Be A Learner!

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me…”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭29‬

The word disciple means learner—someone who follows and imitates his Master. In Luke 6:40, we read, “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.” The Lord Jesus Christ not only taught spiritual truth—He lived it. He practiced spiritual disciplines in His own life. For instance, in Mark 1:35–42, we see that His times of solitude and prayer were followed by spiritual power.

As we study the rhythm of our Master’s life in the Gospels, we observe that He was marked by the spiritual disciplines of prayer, knowing the Word, meditating on it, and spending intentional time in silence and solitude. Just as the Lord Jesus withdrew to solitary places to meet with His Father, so must we—His followers—establish a consistent quiet time where we pull away from the noise, the busyness, and the demands of the day to be still and listen to His voice.

Isaiah 50:4–6 prophetically describes the Lord’s communion with His Father. It shows us that He awoke early, listened attentively, spoke only what the Father instructed, and surrendered His body fully for service. He is our perfect example.
