Huenda ni baadhi ya mistari inayojulikana zaidi katika Biblia, lakini inawezekana kuifahamu sana kiasi kwamba umuhimu wake kwetu unapotea. Hebu tufikirie kwa muda kuhusu neema ya Mungu inayookoa katika maisha yetu. Biblia inatufundisha, \u201ckwa maana wote wamefanya dhambi na kupungukiwa na utukufu wa Mungu\u201d (Rum. 3:23), na inaendelea kutuambia, \u201cKwa maana mshahara wa dhambi ni mauti, lakini karama ya Mungu ni uzima wa milele katika Kristo Yesu Bwana wetu\u201d (Rum. 6:23). Mshahara ni kile tunachopata au tunachostahili kulingana na juhudi au utendaji wetu, huku zawadi ya bure ikiwa kitu kinachotolewa bila gharama kwa mpokeaji kwa sababu mtoaji amelipa gharama yake.<\/p><p>Mistari ya leo inatuambia kwamba Mungu ametuokoa kwa neema wakati mimi na wewe tulipoweka imani yetu katika kazi iliyokamilika ya Mwanawe mpendwa, Bwana Yesu Kristo! Wokovu si thawabu ya kutenda mema. Wokovu ni kitu ambacho Mungu alikuwa amekifikiria na ambacho Bwana Yesu alikifanya kiwezekane alipotoa maisha yake msalabani Kalvari. Warumi 5:8 inatuambia, &quot;Mungu anaonyesha upendo wake kwetu, kwa kuwa Kristo alikufa kwa ajili yetu, tulipokuwa tungali wenye dhambi.&quot; Ni Mungu aliyechukua hatua, na ilikuwa kifo, kuzikwa, na kufufuka kwa Bwana Yesu ndiko kulikowezesha wokovu wetu. Paulo, akinukuu Isaya 65:1, anaweka wazi asili hii ya neema ya Mungu: &quot;Nilipatikana na wale ambao hawakunitafuta; nilidhihirishwa kwa wale ambao hawakuniuliza&quot; (Rum. 10:20). Lakini kwa yeye asiyefanya kazi, bali anamwamini yeye awahesabiaye haki waovu, imani yake inahesabiwa kuwa ni haki\u201d (Rum. 4:4-5).
