Ilikuwa ni jukumu lake kutoa unabii kwa kizazi kilichosikiliza kwa mtindo fulani, kikamfananisha na mtu mwenye sauti ya kupendeza, kikawaambia wengine kuhusu mahubiri yake, lakini hakikufanya chochote kuhusu ujumbe wake. Walisikia maneno yake lakini hawakuyafanya.<\/p><p>Ezekieli hakuwa mtu pekee wa Mungu ambaye mahubiri yake yalisikika bila kuitikia. Hapo awali, Mungu alikuwa amemshauri Isaya mapema kwamba ujumbe wake ungepofusha macho, kuzima masikio, na kufanya mioyo kuwa migumu, ili wasikilizaji wasije wakaongoka na kuponywa. Maneno hayo yanaonekana baadaye katika kila moja ya Injili nne na baadaye katika Matendo na Warumi kuelezea mwitikio mbaya wa Israeli kwa huduma ya Bwana wetu na Paulo. Tunasema, \u201cLakini iweni watendaji wa Neno, wala si wasikiaji tu,\u201d na hapo ndipo tunaposimama. Lakini kuna msemo wa ziada mzito zaidi: \u201cmkijidanganya wenyewe.\u201d Hiyo ndiyo sehemu mbaya zaidi: kwa kusikia na kutotenda, tunajidanganya wenyewe.<\/p><p>Bwana wetu alionya kila mara dhidi ya kusikia bila kutenda. \u201cKila asikiaye maneno yangu haya na hayatendi, atafananishwa na mtu mpumbavu aliyejenga nyumba yake juu ya mchanga.\u201d \u201cMkiyajua haya, heri ninyi mkiyatenda.\u201d \u201cNinyi ni rafiki zangu mkiyatenda ninayowaamuru.\u201d \u201cKwa nini mnaniita, \u2018Bwana, Bwana,\u2019 wala hamfanyi ninayosema?\u201d Katika Agizo Kuu, tunaambiwa twende, \u201ctukiwafundisha kuyashika\u201d mambo aliyoamuru.<\/p><p>Dhambi kuu miongoni mwa dhambi zinazowasumbua watakatifu ni kusikia bila kutenda.
