This is something most of us do not want to talk about. In fact, we usually try to bury our anxieties and pretend they do not exist. But David asks the Lord to reveal his anxieties, \u201cto know them.\u201d<\/p><p>A palavra <em>anxieties<\/em> \u00e9 <em>sarappim<\/em> in the Hebrew. It has the thought of disquieting, anxious, conflicting thoughts. Anxieties grow from worries that have not been committed to the Lord. They are worries that have been allowed to grow! Worry, according to the dictionary, as a verb, is \u201cto give way to anxiety or unease; allow one\u2019s mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles.\u201d As a noun, it is \u201ca state of anxiety and uncertainty over actual or potential problems.\u201d Anxiety is \u201ca feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.\u201d<\/p><p>Anxiety can lead to fear, which is \u201can unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.\u201d Fear is a response to a danger or threat that may or may not occur. Fear can lead to an even more devastating condition: panic. Panic is a deeper, more severe condition that involves being totally overwhelmed by physical and mental feelings. David describes panic in Psalm 55:4-5: \u201cMy heart is severely pained within me, and the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror has overwhelmed me.\u201d<\/p><p>These are all things that many of us don\u2019t like to speak of. They may even be hard for us to comprehend. But the Word of God speaks to these things and gives us help as we pass through them. There may be cases where one may need to seek professional help from others, such as a genuine Christian counselor or another qualified professional. But we need to be reminded that the Lord Jesus Christ declared, \u201cPeace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.
