Coube a ele profetizar para uma gera\u00e7\u00e3o que o ouvia de certa forma, comparando-o a algu\u00e9m com uma voz agrad\u00e1vel, falando a outros sobre sua prega\u00e7\u00e3o, mas nada fazendo de acordo com sua mensagem. Eles ouviram suas palavras, mas n\u00e3o as praticaram.<\/p><p>Ezequiel n\u00e3o foi o \u00fanico homem de Deus cujos serm\u00f5es ca\u00edram em ouvidos indiferentes. Anteriormente, Deus havia avisado Isa\u00edas de antem\u00e3o que sua mensagem cegaria os olhos, taparia os ouvidos e endureceria os cora\u00e7\u00f5es, para que os ouvintes n\u00e3o se convertessem e fossem curados. Essas palavras aparecem mais tarde em cada um dos quatro Evangelhos e ainda mais tarde em Atos e Romanos para explicar a fraca resposta de Israel ao minist\u00e9rio de nosso Senhor e de Paulo. Israel ouviu, mas n\u00e3o fez nada.<\/p><p>Tiago adverte contra o mesmo mal. Invariavelmente, n\u00e3o citamos o vers\u00edculo inteiro. Dizemos: \u201cSejam praticantes da palavra, e n\u00e3o apenas ouvintes\u201d, e paramos por a\u00ed. Mas h\u00e1 uma frase adicional muito solene: \u201cenganando-se a si mesmos\u201d. Essa \u00e9 a pior parte: ao ouvirmos e n\u00e3o praticarmos, enganamo-nos a n\u00f3s mesmos.<\/p><p>Nosso Senhor constantemente nos advertia contra ouvir sem agir. \u201cTodo aquele que ouve estas Minhas palavras e n\u00e3o as pratica ser\u00e1 comparado ao homem insensato que construiu a sua casa sobre a areia.\u201d \u201cSe voc\u00eas sabem estas coisas, felizes ser\u00e3o se as praticarem.\u201d \u201cVoc\u00eas s\u00e3o Meus amigos se fizerem o que Eu lhes ordeno.\u201d \u201cPor que voc\u00eas Me chamam de \u2018Senhor, Senhor\u2019 e n\u00e3o fazem o que Eu digo?\u201d Na Grande Comiss\u00e3o, somos instru\u00eddos a ir, \u201censinando-os a observar\u201d as coisas que Ele ordenou.<\/p><p>O principal pecado que assola os santos \u00e9 ouvir sem praticar. \u00c9 um pecado grave, pois \u201caquele que sabe que deve fazer o bem e n\u00e3o o faz, comete pecado\u201d. Nos dias de Ezequiel, as pessoas ouviam o pregador, o elogiavam, falavam dele a outros, mas nada faziam a respeito da mensagem. Os s\u00e9culos se passaram e, hoje, ouvimos pregadores, convidamos outros a ouvi-los e os parabenizamos com o elogio bastante duvidoso: \u201cGostei do seu serm\u00e3o\u201d. Mas n\u00e3o fazemos nada a respeito.<\/p><p>Que jamais nos esque\u00e7amos de que, embora possamos n\u00e3o fazer nada em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 Palavra que ouvimos, a Palavra agir\u00e1 sobre n\u00f3s. O mesmo sol derrete o gelo e endurece o barro, e a Palavra de Deus tanto humilha quanto endurece o cora\u00e7\u00e3o humano. A verdade ouvida e n\u00e3o praticada \u00e9 algo perigoso.
