Cumpre o que prometeste; melhor \u00e9 n\u00e3o prometer do que prometer e n\u00e3o cumprir. N\u00e3o deixes que a tua boca leve a tua carne a pecar, nem digas diante do mensageiro de Deus que foi um erro. Por que se ira Deus com a tua desculpa e destrua a obra das tuas m\u00e3os? Pois na multid\u00e3o de sonhos e palavras h\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m vaidade. Mas teme a Deus.\u201d<br \/><strong>Eclesiastes 5:4-7<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p>Salom\u00e3o adverte contra fazer votos imprudentes. Algumas pessoas fazem votos a Deus numa tentativa de barganhar com Ele: &quot;Se o Senhor fizer isto, eu prometo fazer aquilo&quot;. Salom\u00e3o adverte contra esse tipo de abordagem a Deus, lembrando-nos que, se fizermos um voto a Deus, devemos cumpri-lo. Ele equipara fazer promessas a Deus e depois n\u00e3o as cumprir \u00e0 tolice.<\/p><p>Os votos dizem respeito a a\u00e7\u00f5es futuras, e o futuro \u00e9 algo sobre o qual voc\u00ea e eu temos muito pouco controle. Os votos devem ser considerados sagrados e solenes porque envolvem realidades celestiais, e devemos ter cuidado para n\u00e3o os fazer levianamente. Algumas pessoas usam os votos para ganhar a confian\u00e7a de outros a fim de tirar proveito deles, e algumas at\u00e9 tentam fazer isso com o Senhor.<\/p><p>Salom\u00e3o nos adverte sobre o perigo de quebrar um voto, e Tiago acrescenta: \u201cAcima de tudo, meus irm\u00e3os, n\u00e3o jurem, nem pelo c\u00e9u, nem pela terra, nem por qualquer outro juramento. Seja o seu \u2018sim\u2019, \u2018sim\u2019, e o seu \u2018n\u00e3o\u2019, \u2018n\u00e3o\u2019, para que voc\u00eas n\u00e3o caiam em condena\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d (Tiago 5:12).<\/p><p>Um dos perigos de fazer votos \u00e9 que nossas circunst\u00e2ncias podem mudar, dificultando o cumprimento de tal promessa. Existem tamb\u00e9m votos que s\u00e3o indefinidos e podem se tornar uma armadilha que nos aprisiona, como vemos em Ju\u00edzes 11:29-40, Mateus 14:6-12 e Atos 23:20-24.<\/p><p>Ananias e Safira mentiram a Deus e sofreram o Seu julgamento quando fizeram um voto sob falsos pretextos (Atos 5:1-11). Teria sido melhor se nunca tivessem feito o voto. Poderiam ter doado apenas parte dos rendimentos de suas terras, mas, em vez disso, quiseram criar uma falsa impress\u00e3o perante os outros. Desejavam parecer mais espirituais para obter maior estima na igreja. Esse ato de hipocrisia custou-lhes a pr\u00f3pria vida.<\/p><p>Deus n\u00e3o exige que fa\u00e7amos votos. No Antigo Testamento, os votos eram oferecidos como uma express\u00e3o volunt\u00e1ria da devo\u00e7\u00e3o a Deus (N\u00fameros 30; Deuteron\u00f4mio 23:21-23; Atos 18:18). Mas, nas palavras de Salom\u00e3o, o Senhor diz a cada um de n\u00f3s: \u201cFilho meu, d\u00e1-me o teu cora\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d (Prov\u00e9rbios 23:26).<\/p><p><strong>\u00c2ncora de hoje:<\/strong><br \/>O Senhor deseja vidas rendidas a Ele, n\u00e3o promessas vazias.
