\u201cMas o fruto do Esp\u00edrito \u00e9 amor, alegria, paz, longanimidade, amabilidade, bondade, fidelidade, mansid\u00e3o e dom\u00ednio pr\u00f3prio. Contra essas coisas n\u00e3o h\u00e1 lei.\u201d
G\u00e1latas 5:22-23<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

\u00c9 interessante notar que quando o ap\u00f3stolo Paulo, o Ap\u00f3stolo<\/span><\/span> apareceu antes Ant\u00f4nio F\u00e9lix<\/span><\/span>, \u201cEle refletiu sobre justi\u00e7a, dom\u00ednio pr\u00f3prio e o ju\u00edzo vindouro.\u201d Como resultado, \u201cF\u00e9lix ficou com medo e respondeu: \u2018Por agora, pode ir; quando eu tiver uma oportunidade, mandarei cham\u00e1-lo\u2019\u201d (Atos 24:25).<\/p>

Os fariseus eram l\u00edderes religiosos que jejuavam, oravam e davam esmolas. Exteriormente, pareciam possuir autocontrole. Contudo, em Mateus 23:25, 27, o Senhor Jesus disse deles: \u201cAi de voc\u00eas, escribas e fariseus, hip\u00f3critas! Pois voc\u00eas limpam o exterior do copo e do prato, mas por dentro est\u00e3o cheios de gan\u00e2ncia e autoindulg\u00eancia\u2026 Ai de voc\u00eas, escribas e fariseus, hip\u00f3critas! Pois voc\u00eas s\u00e3o como sepulcros caiados: por fora parecem belos, mas por dentro est\u00e3o cheios de ossos de mortos e de toda impureza.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

Ao que parece, segundo as Escrituras, F\u00e9lix vivia abertamente sem autocontrole, enquanto os fariseus levavam vidas disciplinadas exteriormente, mas interiormente eram marcados pela autogratifica\u00e7\u00e3o. Nenhum dos dois sabia o que significava viver uma vida cheia do Esp\u00edrito e demonstrar verdadeiro autocontrole.<\/p>

O autocontrole \u00e0s vezes \u00e9 traduzido como temperan\u00e7a<\/em>. \u00c9 o poder de governar as pr\u00f3prias paix\u00f5es e desejos. O ap\u00f3stolo Paulo ilustra isso comparando a vida crist\u00e3 a uma corrida em 1 Cor\u00edntios 9:24-27: \u201cVoc\u00eas n\u00e3o sabem que, numa corrida, todos os corredores competem, mas apenas um ganha o pr\u00eamio? Corram de tal maneira que o alcancem. Todos os que competem pelos pr\u00eamios se abst\u00eam de tudo; eles o fazem para alcan\u00e7ar uma coroa perec\u00edvel, mas n\u00f3s, para alcan\u00e7ar uma coroa imperec\u00edvel. Por isso, corro assim, n\u00e3o como quem corre sem rumo; n\u00e3o luto como quem golpeia o ar. Mas esmurro o meu corpo e o reduzo \u00e0 servid\u00e3o, para que, depois de ter pregado aos outros, eu mesmo n\u00e3o venha a ser reprovado.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

Pedro, o Ap\u00f3stolo<\/span><\/span> igualmente nos desafia: \u201cPor isso, empenhem-se ao m\u00e1ximo para acrescentar \u00e0 sua f\u00e9 a virtude; \u00e0 virtude, o conhecimento; ao conhecimento, o dom\u00ednio pr\u00f3prio; ao dom\u00ednio pr\u00f3prio, a perseveran\u00e7a; \u00e0 perseveran\u00e7a, a piedade; \u00e0 piedade, a fraternidade; e \u00e0 fraternidade, o amor\u201d (2 Pedro 1:5-7).<\/span><\/p>

Vivemos em uma \u00e9poca caracterizada pela falta de autocontrole (2 Tim\u00f3teo 3:3). Contudo, que possamos demonstrar os frutos de uma vida com autocontrole, tanto em particular quanto em p\u00fablico.<\/p>
