By <em data-start=\"337\" data-end=\"343\">walk<\/em>, we mean our conduct and behavior. This is what the apostle John had in mind when writing 1 John. He writes as one seeking reality in the Christian life, instructing us not to <em data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"579\">\u201clove in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth\u201d<\/em> (1 John 3:18). Earlier in the same chapter, he reminds us:<\/p><blockquote data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"923\"><p data-start=\"642\" data-end=\"923\"><em data-start=\"642\" data-end=\"904\">\u201cBeloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.\u201d <\/em>1 John 3:2\u20133<\/p><\/blockquote><p data-start=\"925\" data-end=\"1086\">Simply put, our talk must be backed up by our walk. As critics of Christianity have often said, <em data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1086\">\u201cWhat you do speaks so loudly, I cannot hear what you say.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1287\">Another evidence of a sanctified life is that it is not based on feelings alone, but rather on the implanted Word of God.<\/p><p data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1360\">The Lord Jesus described this kind of life in the parable of the sower:<\/p><blockquote data-start=\"1362\" data-end=\"1662\"><p data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1662\"><em data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1639\">\u201cBut he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.\u201d <\/em>Matthew 13:20\u201321<\/p><\/blockquote><p data-start=\"1664\" data-end=\"2088\">Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus that they would <em data-start=\"1721\" data-end=\"1755\">\u201cbe rooted and grounded in love\u201d<\/em> (Ephesians 3:17). He also spoke of the importance of doctrinal stability, warning against being <em data-start=\"1856\" data-end=\"1903\">\u201ctossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine\u201d<\/em>(Ephesians 4). In various places, Paul emphasizes being stable and steadfast\u2014qualities that do not come from emotional highs but from being anchored in the Word of God.<\/p><p data-start=\"2148\" data-end=\"2329\">A sanctified life is the ongoing transformation that takes place in us and through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is not merely about doing all the right things outwardly.<\/p><p data-start=\"2331\" data-end=\"2649\">A person may attend every meeting, participate in communion, dress appropriately, and look the part\u2014but if they do not live a life of love toward their fellow brothers and sisters, something is missing. Speaking ill of others or harboring bitterness is a clear sign that the heart is not truly set apart to Christ.<\/p><p data-start=\"2651\" data-end=\"2765\">If it were, it would reflect the character of Christ\u2014expressed through love, humility, forgiveness, and grace.<\/p><p data-start=\"2651\" data-end=\"2765\"><strong>Anchor For Today:<\/strong><br \/>As we spend time in the Word of God, the Holy Spirit works in us to sanctify us and to form the character of Christ within us.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Evidence of Sanctification \u201cthat He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,\u201d\u202d\u202dEphesians\u202c \u202d5\u202c:\u202d26\u202c True sanctification, when lived out, affects our walk\u2014not just our talk.
