Mois\u00e9s lhes havia dito: \u201cVoc\u00eas s\u00e3o um povo santo para o Senhor, o seu Deus. O Senhor, o seu Deus, os escolheu para serem o seu povo, um tesouro especial dentre todos os povos da face da terra\u2026 porque o Senhor os ama\u201d (Deuteron\u00f4mio 7:6-8). Ent\u00e3o Jeremias lhes disse: \u201cEu os amei com um amor eterno\u201d (Jeremias 31:3).<\/p><p>Deus havia demonstrado Seu amor por eles ao escolh\u00ea-los em vez dos descendentes de Esa\u00fa, ao ajud\u00e1-los a retornar e reconstruir os lugares desolados e ao permitir que vissem Sua grandeza manifestada a outros al\u00e9m das fronteiras de Israel (Malaquias 1:2-5). Mesmo assim, eles perguntaram: \u201cDe que maneira nos amaste?\u201d<\/p><p>Hoje, n\u00e3o somos diferentes. Nossos cora\u00e7\u00f5es podem facilmente se tornar insens\u00edveis ao Seu amor por n\u00f3s, e nos esquecemos de que \u201cnisto consiste o amor: n\u00e3o em que n\u00f3s tenhamos amado a Deus, mas em que ele nos amou e enviou seu Filho como propicia\u00e7\u00e3o pelos nossos pecados\u201d (1 Jo\u00e3o 4:10). Se come\u00e7armos a perder de vista o Seu grande amor por n\u00f3s, aos poucos seremos atra\u00eddos por outras coisas.<\/p><p>Foi isso que aconteceu com a igreja em \u00c9feso: eles abandonaram o seu primeiro amor (Apocalipse 2:4). Tantas outras coisas se infiltraram em sua vida que o afeto por Cristo se perdeu. Foi isso que aconteceu com Jud\u00e1 nos dias de Malaquias. Buscando b\u00ean\u00e7\u00e3os materiais como prova do amor de Deus, eles se tornaram cegos para tudo o que Ele havia feito.
