Is Truth?<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ae6a66a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ae6a66a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><span class=\"s2\">The Background<\/span><\/h3><p><span class=\"s4\">This question was asked by Pilot. He asked it while interrogating the Lord Jesus in John 18. There we find the setting laid out for us, it almost looks like a court room drama. In verses 28-32 we have the indictment against the Lord Jesus. He is brought to the Praetorium early in the morning, but His accusers didn\u2019t go into the Praetorium \u201clest they should be defile, but that they might eat the Passover.\u201d When Pilates asks, \u201c\u2019What accusation do you bring against this Man?\u2019 <\/span><span class=\"s4\">They answered and said to him, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2018<\/span><span class=\"s4\">If He were not\u00a0an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you.<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2019<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> \u00a0The actual accusation is three-fold and recorded in Luke\u2019s account of this ordeal, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cthey began to\u00a0accuse Him, saying, \u201cWe found this\u00a0fellow\u00a0perverting the nation, and\u00a0forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying\u00a0that He Himself is Christ, a King.\u201d They accused the Lord Jesus first of leading the nation astray, then of opposing tribute to Caesar, and finally of claiming to a king and the Jewish Messiah.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Pilate then examines the Lord Jesus for himself and finds no fault in Him (18:33-35). \u00a0But in the course of Pilates interrogation, we read of this exchange, \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">Jesus answered,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2018<\/span><span class=\"s4\">My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2019 <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Pilate therefore said to Him, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2018<\/span><span class=\"s4\">Are You a king then?<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2019 <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Jesus answered,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2018<\/span><span class=\"s4\">You say\u00a0rightly\u00a0that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world,\u00a0that I should bear\u00a0witness to the truth. Everyone who\u00a0is of the truth\u00a0hears My voice.<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u2019<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> Here we read of the defense of the Lord Jesus in response to the accusations and in His statement, we have some important truth given.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">First, \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">You say\u00a0rightly\u00a0that I am a king. For this cause I was born<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.\u201d Here we have a statement of His manhood, of His humanity. Then we read of His deity, \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">and for this cause I have come into the world<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.\u201d These two things we read throughout this book (Jn. 1:1-3, 9-10, 14; 3:17-19; 9:39; 10:36). The third truth given here is that of His ministry, why He came, \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">that I should bear\u00a0witness to the truth.<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d The Lord Jesus spoke of this leading up to this point. <\/span><span class=\"s4\">In John 8:<\/span><span class=\"s4\">45-47, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.\u00a0Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?\u00a0He who is of God hears God\u2019s words; therefore<\/span><span class=\"s4\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> you do not hear, because you are not of God.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> He also spoke of this in John 10:27<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, \u201cJesus answered them,\u00a0\u201cI told you, and you do not believe.\u00a0The works that I do in My Father\u2019s name, they\u00a0bear witness of Me.\u00a0But\u00a0you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep,\u00a0as I said to you.\u00a0My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">At this point in the interrogation Pilate asked, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">What is truth?\u201d When he had said this, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">he went out again to the Jews, and said to them,\u00a0\u201cI find no fault in Him at all.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> Pilate may have asked what is truth sarcastically, he may have asked it sincerely, we are not sure, but one thing we do know is that he asked a very serious and all<\/span><span class=\"s4\">&#8211;<\/span><span class=\"s4\">important question!<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> It is important to the day you and I live in. Many will say, \u201cthat is your truth and this is my truth.\u201d Some will say there is no absolute truth. But we want to dive into Pilate\u2019s question and seek to answer, \u201cWhat is truth?\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Paul mentions, when describing the last days, that the world we live in <\/span><span class=\"s4\">is <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">always learning and never able\u00a0to come to the knowledge of the truth<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d (2 Tim. 3:7).<\/span><\/p><h3><span class=\"s2\">Definition<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> of Truth<\/span><\/h3><p><span class=\"s4\">Let\u2019s get a working definition to Pilate\u2019s question, \u201cWhat is truth?\u201d Truth is the absolute standard by which reality is measure. Truth sits outside of us and is the objective standard that is absolute in its origin. Truth is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God. Truth is the self-expression of God. Truth transcends our emotions meaning that how we feel has nothing to do with truth. Truth is a fixed standard that goes deeper than facts, a person can have all the facts and yet still not know the truth about something.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">It is interesting that the word truth appears 23 times in the gospel which presents the Lord Jesus as the Son of God. It is used 105 times in the New Testament and the only other book that comes close is also written by John, 1 John in which the word truth appears 10 times. Romans uses it 9 times. The Greek word for truth is <\/span><span class=\"s5\">aletheia<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">which <\/span><span class=\"s4\">means firm, solid or binding. <\/span><\/p><h3><span class=\"s2\">Distinguishing Details of Truth<\/span><\/h3><p><span class=\"s4\">In our definition we have said that<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> Truth is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory, and being of God and that Truth is the self-expression of God. Truth comes from God! We can say that each Person of the Godhead is Truth. We read Deuteronomy 32:4 that our God is <\/span><span class=\"s4\">the Rock,\u00a0His work\u00a0is\u00a0perfect; For all His ways\u00a0are\u00a0justice, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">a<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> God of truth and\u00a0without injustice;<\/span><span class=\"s4\"><br \/><\/span><span class=\"s4\">Righteous and upright\u00a0is\u00a0He.<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d <\/span><span class=\"s4\">In Psalm 31:5 we read, \u201cInto Your hand I commit my spirit;<\/span><span class=\"s4\"><br \/><\/span><span class=\"s4\">You have redeemed me, O\u00a0Lord\u00a0God of\u00a0truth.\u201d <\/span><span class=\"s4\">The first half of this verse is spoken by the Lord Jesus to the Father from the Cross. And we also read of Him being the God of truth twice in Isaiah 65:16, So that he who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth;<\/span><span class=\"s4\"><br \/><\/span><span class=\"s4\">and\u00a0he who swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; <\/span><span class=\"s4\">b<\/span><span class=\"s4\">ecause the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hidden from My eyes.<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> So, we can glean from all three of these verses that God the Father is Truth.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">In John 14:6 the Lord Jesus declared, \u201cI am\u00a0the way,\u00a0the truth, and\u00a0the life.\u00a0No one comes to the Father\u00a0except through Me.\u201d He was indeed the One of Whom we read, \u201cIn the beginning\u00a0was the Word, and the\u00a0Word was\u00a0with God, and the Word was\u00a0God.\u00a0He was in the beginning with <\/span><span class=\"s4\">God\u2026 <\/span><span class=\"s4\">And the Word\u00a0became\u00a0flesh and dwelt among us, and\u00a0we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,\u00a0full of grace and truth\u2026For\u00a0the law was given through <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Moses, but <\/span><span class=\"s4\">grace and\u00a0truth came through Jesus Christ\u201d (Jn. 1:1-2, 14, 17).<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> In these verses we clearly see the Lord Jesus proclaimed as Truth personified.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Then God the Holy Spirit is also referred to as the Spirit of Truth in John 14:17, 15:26, and 16:13.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">When we put all this together<\/span><span class=\"s4\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> we understand what Paul meant when he wrote, \u201clet\u00a0God be\u00a0true but\u00a0every man a liar\u201d (Rom. 3:4) or Hebrews 6:18 \u201cit\u00a0is\u00a0impossible for God to\u00a0lie\u201d and this is also mentioned in Titus 1:2. \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">Our God cannot lie because He Himself is Truth!<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">The second distinguishing mark of what constitute truth is reigns supreme. This means that truth is absolute, Truth has the first and last <\/span><span class=\"s4\">word, the<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> final say! Truth is never relative, arbitrary or<\/span><span class=\"s4\">conditional. It stands in contrast to one who is called the father of lies (Jn. 8:44). <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Some will say,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> there is no absolute truth<\/span><span class=\"s4\">. <\/span><span class=\"s4\">A good question to ask people who say, \u201cThere is no absolute truth\u201d is this: \u201cAre you absolutely sure of that?\u201d If they say \u201cyes,\u201d they have made an absolute statement\u2014which itself implies the existence of absolutes. They are saying that the very fact there is no absolute truth is the one and only absolute truth.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">The third thing we can say about truth is that it is <\/span><span class=\"s4\">real and genuine<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, meaning that it exists and it is objective.<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">Truth is not subjective, nor does it depend on circumstances. It can be known, the Lord Jesus said, \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">you shall know the\u00a0truth, and\u00a0the truth shall make you free\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> (Jn. 8:32). <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Next, all Truth stands together, meaning that Truth is singular. Notice back in John 18:37, John 8:32, 14:6 the Lord Jesus spoke of THE Truth, not a truth or one of many truths. The Bible knows nothing about your truth and my truth, or that\u2019s the truth according to you. It only knows of ONE Truth, THE Truth!<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Fifth, that which is Truth never changes! Just as God Himself is immutable or unchanging (Mal. 3:6) and the Lord Jesus the living Word is the same yesterday today and forever (Heb. 13:8), the Truth does not change. The Psalmist announced, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cForever, O\u00a0Lord, Your word\u00a0is settled in heaven\u201d (Ps. 119:89). Isaiah declared, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cThe grass withers, the flower fades, but\u00a0the word of our God stands forever\u201d (Is. 40:8).<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">The Lord Jesus taught, \u201cFor assuredly, I say to you,\u00a0till heaven and earth pass away, one\u00a0jot or one\u00a0tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled\u201d (Mt. 5:18).<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">The sixth feature of Truth is that it makes demands or to put it another way it is authoritative. <\/span><span class=\"s4\">The Psalmist declared, \u201cThe entirety of Your word\u00a0is\u00a0truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments\u00a0endures\u00a0forever\u201d (Ps. 119:160).<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">The Biblical message breathed out by God is\u00a0revelation\u00a0in written form. (2 Tim<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 3:15-16). <\/span><span class=\"s4\">T<\/span><span class=\"s4\">here is only one written source from God, and there is only one basis of <\/span><span class=\"s4\">authority<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> for the Lord\u2019s people in the\u00a0Church<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> and that is the Truth<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">The next thing we need to mention is that the Truth cuts deeply<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, \u201cFor the word of God\u00a0is\u00a0living and powerful, and\u00a0sharper than any\u00a0two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is\u00a0a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart\u201d (Heb. 4:12).<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">The Word of God is alive because God is a living God (<\/span><span class=\"s4\">Heb<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 3:12<\/span><span class=\"s4\">). <\/span><span class=\"s4\">The Lord <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Jesus said, \u201cThe very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life\u201d (<\/span><span class=\"s4\">Jn<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 6:63<\/span><span class=\"s4\">). In the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">parable of the <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Sower<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">He <\/span><span class=\"s4\">compared God\u2019s Word to seed (<\/span><span class=\"s4\">M<\/span><span class=\"s4\">t<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 13:1\u201323<\/span><span class=\"s4\">). Seed, like the Word, is a living organism that, when spread and planted in fertile soil, produces abundant life.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">The term\u00a0active\u00a0in\u00a0Heb<\/span><span class=\"s4\">rew<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 4:12\u00a0means \u201ceffective, powerful, producing or capable of producing an intended result.\u201d The Word of God is vibrant, dynamic, energizing, and productive. It is not static or idle in the lives of genuine believers. The apostle Paul explained that the Word of God is \u201cat work in you who believe\u201d (1 Thess<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 2:13).<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">The author of Hebrews described the Word of God as \u201csharper than any double-edged sword.\u201d Paul called it \u201cthe sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God\u201d (Eph. 6:17).<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">As a sharp, double-<\/span><span class=\"s4\">edged<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> sword, the Word of God is our definitive <\/span><span class=\"s4\">defensive<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> weapon against the assaults of a spiritual enemy. When Satan\u00a0tempted <\/span><span class=\"s4\">the <\/span><span class=\"s4\">Lord\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">Jesus <\/span><span class=\"s4\">in the wilderness, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">the Lord<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> wielded the sword of God\u2019s Word to counter the devil\u2019s attacks (Mt. 4:4). <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">The final distinguishing feature of the Truth is that it determines destinies. <\/span><span class=\"s4\">It has been said that \u201cyour relationship to the truth charts the course of your life.\u201d A person\u2019s response to the truth will impact every area of the life here and now and it will determine their eternal destiny as well! <\/span><span class=\"s4\">This is why the Psalmist referred to the Word of God as <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">a lamp to my feet <\/span><span class=\"s4\">a<\/span><span class=\"s4\">nd a light to my path<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d (Ps<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 119:105).<\/span><\/p><h3><span class=\"s2\">The Power of the Truth<\/span><\/h3><p class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s4\">Next <\/span><span class=\"s4\">to our text in John 18 the second passage where the subject of truth is dealt with in detail is found in John 8. <\/span><span class=\"s4\">In chapters 8 and 9 we learn of the Lord Jesus as the true light contrasted with that which is darkness. It is instructive that this matter of <\/span><span class=\"s4\">light<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s4\">truth<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> go hand in hand together in chapter 8<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, light exposes darkness and truth exposes that which is false. In fact, we see several contrasts reveal in chapter 8, grace vs. law (v1-11), light vs. darkness (v12-20), life vs. death (v21-30), freedom vs. bondage (v31-47), and honor vs. dishonor (v48-59).<\/span><\/p><p class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s4\">The women caught in the very act of adultery sets the ground work for our subject on truth. If these religious leaders were genuine about their concern for the law, they would have had the man present in keeping with Leviticus 20:10. It might seem strange at first glance that our Lord declares at the end of this encounter, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cI am the light of the world. He who\u00a0follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> He said this because He was exposing the true condition of their hearts.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s4\">Then the next section of chapter 8 deals with the teaching of the Lord Jesus as the light of the world (8:13-32). In this section we hear three statements made which parallel with statements that are made in the rest of the chapter.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s4\">First, the Pharisee said to Him, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cYou bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not\u00a0true.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> The Lord answers them, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cEven if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but\u00a0you do not know where I come from and where I am going.\u00a0You judge according to the flesh;\u00a0I judge no one.\u00a0And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for\u00a0I am not alone, but I\u00a0am\u00a0with the Father who sent Me.\u00a0It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.\u00a0I am One who bears witness of Myself, and\u00a0the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> This connects directly with what our Lord says in verse<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 31-32, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cIf you\u00a0abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.\u00a0And you shall know the\u00a0truth, and\u00a0the truth shall make you free.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> They were enslaved by ignorance and He offers the freedom of the truth.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s4\">Second, latter in this confrontation, our Lord declared, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cI am going away, and\u00a0you will seek Me, and\u00a0will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come.\u201d<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">But <\/span><span class=\"s4\">the Pharisees<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">became<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> sidetracked saying, \u201cWill He kill Himself, because He says,\u00a0\u2018Where I go you cannot come\u2019?\u201d But latter He points out, \u201cMost assuredly, I say to you,\u00a0whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.\u00a0And\u00a0a slave does not abide in the house forever,\u00a0but\u00a0a son abides forever.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> In all this, the Lord Jesus speaks of those who are enslaved by sin (v21), but <\/span><span class=\"s4\">He offers <\/span><span class=\"s4\">freedom from sin (v34-36). <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Then the Lord mentions to them, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cYou are from beneath; I am from above.\u00a0You are of this world; I am not of this world.\u00a0Therefore<\/span><span class=\"s4\">,<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> I said to you that you will die in your sins;\u00a0for if you do not <\/span><span class=\"s4\">believe that I am\u00a0He,\u00a0you will die in your sins.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> The Lord Jesus was seeking to impress upon them that they were enslaved by death and that He offered freedom from death, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cTherefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d (v36)<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">They had asked a question in the midst of this back and forth, \u201cWho are You?\u201d And Jesus said to them,\u00a0\u201cJust what I\u00a0have been saying to you from the beginning.\u00a0I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but\u00a0He who sent Me is true; and\u00a0I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> If one carefully follows this chapter, we can clearly see that the Lord Jesus claimed deity in verses 12, 18, 23, 24, 28, and 36. <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">Notice the connection between truth and the Son. In verse<\/span><span class=\"s4\">s<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">31-<\/span><span class=\"s4\">32 our Lord announced, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cIf you\u00a0abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.\u00a032\u00a0And you shall know the\u00a0truth, and\u00a0the truth shall make you free.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> In verse 36 He says, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cTherefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d At least seven times in this chapter our Lord declared that His words were true (8:13-14, 26, 31-32). \u00a0We read that as the incarnate Word He was full of grace and truth (Jn. 1:14). Truth came through Him, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cFor\u00a0the law was given through Moses,\u00a0but\u00a0grace and\u00a0truth came through Jesus Christ\u201d (Jn.1:17).<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> He is the Truth as He said<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, \u201cI am\u00a0the way,\u00a0the truth, and\u00a0the life.\u00a0No one comes to the Father\u00a0except through Me<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d (Jn. 14:6). As the Truth He is able to set us free (Jn. 8:32-36; Gal. 5;1). It is truth sets us apart<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, \u201cSanctify\u00a0them by Your truth.\u00a0Your word is truth\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> (Jn. 17:17).<\/span><\/p><h3><span class=\"s2\">Conclusion<\/span><\/h3><p><span class=\"s4\">It is no secret that today, as always there is a war on the truth! Satan has not changed his tactics. But Paul reminds us, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201clest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices\u201d (2 Cor. 2:11).<\/span> <span class=\"s4\">From the very beginning he put doubt into the heart of man concerning the Word of God, \u201cHas God said\u201d (Gen. 3:1)? He desires to distort the Word of God, for example carefully compare what Satan said God said in Genesis 3:1 with what God actually said in Genesis 2:16. This distortion opens the door for Eve to lose sight of her relationship with her God. She actually takes away from the word God gave them omitting \u201cevery\u201d and adding the word \u201cnot to touch\u201d and she soften His words by taking away the word \u201csurely\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> in Genesis 2:17. By the time we get to Genesis 3:4 she completely denied the truth.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"s4\">This is why Paul told Timothy to <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cBe diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth\u201d (2 Tim. 2:15).<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> In these last and difficult days, we are to <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">h<\/span><span class=\"s4\">old fast\u00a0the pattern of\u00a0sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus\u201d (2 Tim. 1:13)<\/span><span class=\"s4\">. The<\/span><span class=\"s4\">re<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> will be those who do not want to hear the truth, Paul warned us about these days saying<\/span><span class=\"s4\">, \u201cFor the time will come when they will not endure\u00a0sound doctrine,\u00a0but according to their own desires,\u00a0because\u00a0they have itching ears, they will <\/span><span class=\"s4\">heap<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> up for themselves teachers;\u00a0and they will turn\u00a0their\u00a0ears away from the truth, and\u00a0be turned aside to fables\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> (2 Tim<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 4:3-4). These days are no doubt here, and truth does matter this is why we are to <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201cPreach the word! Be ready in season\u00a0and\u00a0out of <\/span><span class=\"s4\">season. Convince, rebuke, <\/span><span class=\"s4\">exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching\u201d and <\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s4\">to be watchful in all things,\u00a0endure afflictions, do the work of\u00a0an evangelist, fulfill your ministry<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u201d (2 Tim<\/span><span class=\"s4\">.<\/span><span class=\"s4\"> 4:2, 5).<\/span><span class=\"s4\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-594 elementor-widget elementor-widget-template\" data-id=\"594\"
