Ik heb daar een weduwe aangewezen om voor je te zorgen.\u2019<br \/><strong>1 Koningen 17:8-9<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p>Elia had zich aan koning Achab laten zien en hem de boodschap overgebracht dat er geen dauw of regen zou vallen, behalve op zijn woord. Maar toen gaf de Heer hem de opdracht zich te verbergen bij de beek Cherith, waar hij &#039;s ochtends en &#039;s avonds door raven gevoed zou worden. Maar de lessen over de waarde van een verborgen leven waren voor hem nog niet voorbij. De Heer had onreine vogels gebruikt om Elia te voeden, en nu zou Hij een arme weduwe gebruiken die zelf in een benarde situatie verkeerde.<\/p><p>Elia gehoorzaamt en ontmoet de weduwe bij de stadspoort, waar ze takken verzamelt om een vuur te maken voor de laatste maaltijd voor haar en haar zoon. Hij vraagt haar: &quot;Breng mij een beetje water in een kruik, zodat ik kan drinken&quot; (vers 10). De weduwe begint, ondanks haar eigen lijden, aan zijn verzoek te voldoen. Elia gaat nog een stap verder en vraagt haar om ook wat brood bij het water te brengen. De weduwe antwoordt: &quot;Zo waar de HEER, uw God, leeft, ik heb niets gebakken, alleen een handvol meel in een pot en een beetje olie in een kruik. En nu verzamel ik een paar takken om naar binnen te gaan en het klaar te maken voor mezelf en mijn zoon, zodat we het kunnen eten en sterven&quot; (vers 12). Elia verzekert haar dan: &quot;Want zo zegt de HEER, de God van Isra\u00ebl: de pot met meel zal niet leeg raken en de kruik met olie niet opraken, tot de dag dat de HEER regen op de aarde laat vallen&quot; (vers 14). Dit deel van hun verhaal eindigt met een zegen: &quot;En zij ging weg en deed zoals Elia had gezegd; en zij en hij en haar huisgezin aten vele dagen lang&quot; (vers 15).<\/p><p>Wat was het keerpunt in dit verhaal? Dat was toen Elia kon zeggen: &quot;Zo spreekt de HEER, de God van Isra\u00ebl.&quot; Elia had geleerd een leven van overgave te leiden door zich af te zonderen. Hij had geleerd dat weinig dat aan de HEER wordt overgegeven, veel in Zijn hand is. Toen leerden Elia en de weduwe samen de waarheid van Psalm 73:25-26: &quot;Wie heb ik in de hemel behalve U? En er is niemand op aarde die ik begeer behalve U. Mijn lichaam en mijn hart bezwijken, maar God is de kracht van mijn hart en mijn deel tot in eeuwigheid.&quot;\u201c<\/p><p>Er werd hen hoop gegeven toen Elia haar verzekerde dat er niets op zou raken \u201ctotdat de HEER regen op de aarde laat vallen\u201d, en ze ervoeren de hulp van de HEER toen \u201cde meelbak niet leeg raakte en de oliekruik niet opdroogde, zoals de HEER had gezegd\u201d. Dit alles vloeit voort uit het leven van iemand die zich in de aanwezigheid van de HEER verborgen hield.<\/p><div><div><div><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag: <\/strong><br \/>Wanneer we het weinige dat we hebben aan de Heer overgeven en in Zijn aanwezigheid rusten, ontdekken we dat Zijn voorziening altijd toereikend is voor onze behoeften.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sufficient Supply \u201cThen the word of the LORD came to him, saying, \u2018Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there.
