Hij deed wat recht was in de ogen van de HEER en wandelde in de wegen van zijn vader David; hij week niet af naar rechts of naar links.\u201d<\/em><br \/><em><strong>2 Kronieken 34:1-2<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p>Josia was slechts acht jaar oud toen hij koning werd. In 2 Koningen 23 lezen we over de afgodische omstandigheden waarin deze jongen geboren werd, en toch werd hij, ondanks zijn achtergrond, de laatste goede koning van Juda. Wat maakte hem zo&#039;n goede koning, zelfs op achtjarige leeftijd? Wat kenmerkte de opwekking die door zo&#039;n toegewijd hart teweeggebracht werd? Welke geestelijke lessen kunnen we hieruit toepassen in ons eigen leven?<\/p><p>We kunnen deze vragen beantwoorden door een overzicht te geven van het leven van Josia zoals beschreven in 2 Kronieken 34-35. Ten eerste begint geestelijke vernieuwing met gehoorzaamheid aan het Woord van God. Ten tweede is geestelijke honger nodig voor een opwekking. Merk op dat Josia &quot;begon de God van zijn vader David te zoeken&quot; (vers 3). Ten derde leren we dat geestelijke opwekking alleen kan plaatsvinden in samenhang met het Woord van God, zoals te lezen is in 34:8-21. Ten vierde is er een geestelijke respons wanneer het Woord van God duidelijk wordt onderwezen (34:29-33), wat leidt tot eenheid onder hen. Ten vijfde is ware geestelijke aanbidding het resultaat van waarachtig geestelijk werk dat in de harten van het volk wordt verricht. Het Pascha wordt gevierd en de Heer heeft Zijn rechtmatige plaats onder Zijn volk weer terug!<\/p><p>Dit alles gebeurde doordat een achtjarige jongen koning werd! Op zestienjarige leeftijd begon deze jongeman de Heer serieus te nemen. Tegen de tijd dat hij twintig was, begon hij ijverig alles uit te roeien wat zijn God niet eerde (34:3). Toen hij 26 was, was hij nauw betrokken bij de geestelijke toestand van het huis van de Heer (34:8-10). Dit alles nog voordat hij dertig jaar oud was!<\/p><p>Josia is een voorbeeld voor ieder van ons, ongeacht onze leeftijd. Hij was een jonge man die de Heer op de eerste plaats in zijn hart zette, en dat was te zien in zijn leven. Josia hechtte veel waarde aan het Woord van God (34:14-21, 24; 35:6, 12). Hij stond open voor de lessen van anderen en liet zich door hen leiden in de goede richting (34:22-33). Josia is een prachtig voorbeeld voor ons om te bestuderen en te leren welke eigenschappen God kan gebruiken, zelfs in tijden van geestelijke ontwrichting, om een geestelijke herleving teweeg te brengen!<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Ben jij een Josia? Kan God jou gebruiken tot Zijn eer?
