\u201cLaten wij daarom vol vertrouwen tot de troon der genade naderen, opdat wij barmhartigheid ontvangen en genade vinden om ons te helpen in tijden van nood.\u201d<\/em>
Hebree\u00ebn 4:16<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Hebree\u00ebn 4:16 leert ons ook dat er een doel is voor onze komst tot de troon der genade. En wat is dat doel? "...dat wij barmhartigheid ontvangen en genade vinden om ons te helpen in tijden van nood."\u201c<\/p>

Barmhartigheid is een van onze voornaamste behoeften vanwege onze zonden en tekortkomingen. Onze hemelse Vader is "de Vader van de barmhartigheid" (2 Korinti\u00ebrs 1:3) en Hij is "rijk aan barmhartigheid" (Efezi\u00ebrs 2:4). Gods houding ten opzichte van Zijn kinderen die in nood verkeren, is er een van barmhartigheid, medelijden en compassie. In tijden van nood waarderen we allemaal iemand die met ons meevoelt en ons steunt. Zal onze liefdevolle God, die ons genadig heeft gered (Titus 3:5), minder barmhartig zijn nu we Zijn kinderen zijn? Natuurlijk niet!<\/p>

Laten we dan vol vertrouwen naar Hem toe gaan en Hem alles vertellen over wat we nodig hebben.<\/p>

Er zijn momenten waarop we niet weten waar we om moeten bidden (Romeinen 8:26). Het is mogelijk dat u niet weet wat uw behoeften zijn. Maar onze Heer verzekert ons dat "uw Vader weet wat u nodig hebt, voordat u Hem erom vraagt" (Matthe\u00fcs 6:8). Zie ook Matte\u00fcs 6:32.<\/p>

Een ander doel van onze komst naar de troon der genade is "genade te vinden die ons helpt". Barmhartigheid is voor de mislukkingen uit het verleden, en genade is voor de huidige nood.<\/p>

De apostel Paulus verscheen voor de troon der genade toen hij leed onder zijn doorn in het vlees. Driemaal vroeg hij God om deze zwakte weg te nemen. Maar dat was niet wat hij nodig had. Als hij op dat moment pijn leed, was het volkomen natuurlijk dat hij bad om verlichting van het ongemak. Maar juist op dat moment van nood ontving hij dit geruststellende woord van de Heer: "Mijn genade is u genoeg" (2 Korinti\u00ebrs 12:9).<\/p>

De Heer genas Paulus niet, noch nam Hij zijn ongemak op dat moment weg. Maar het was daar \u2013 aan de troon der genade \u2013 dat hij de oneindige, onuitputtelijke bron van Gods genade ontdekte. Daar vond hij genade voor tijdige hulp. En die genade is ook beschikbaar voor u en mij.<\/p>
