Wanneer een persoon geheiligd wordt, wordt hij of zij door God apart gezet voor een specifiek goddelijk doel. Op het moment dat we in Christus gered worden, worden we ook onmiddellijk geheiligd en begint het proces om gelijkvormig te worden aan het beeld van Christus. Als kinderen van God zijn we vanaf dat moment apart gezet om Zijn goddelijke doelen uit te voeren.\u00a0<\/p><p>Heiligmaking, net als alle beloften en gaven van God, vloeit voort uit het werk van de Heer Jezus Christus aan het kruis. Onze heiligheid is verworven door Zijn bloed. Als gevolg van dat volbrachte werk komt heiliging door de gave van de inwonende Heilige Geest (2 Thessalonicenzen 2:13). Door Christus worden we gemaakt tot wat ons bij onze bekering is verklaard. Toen we door God rechtvaardig werden verklaard (gerechtvaardigd), werden we ook positioneel geheiligd. Het zijn niet dezelfde dingen, maar ze zijn wel met elkaar verbonden! Kijk naar Hebree\u00ebn 10:10: <em>\u201cDoor die wil zijn wij geheiligd door het offer van het lichaam van Jezus Christus, eens voor altijd.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p>De Bijbel spreekt over drie soorten heiliging. Ten eerste is er wat we noemen heiliging. <em>positionele heiliging<\/em> (Hebree\u00ebn 10:10). Dit is iets wat God heeft gedaan door het voltooide werk van Christus, ongeacht onze groei of waar we ons in ons christelijk leven bevinden. Kijk bijvoorbeeld naar de mensen in Korinthe. Zij worden heiligen genoemd in 1 Korinti\u00ebrs 1:2 en zijn apart gezet voor God (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 6:11), maar toch hadden zij allerlei zonden onder zich en waren zij vleselijk (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 3:1-3).<\/p><p>De Bijbel leert ons ook <em>praktische of progressieve heiliging<\/em>, Dit houdt in dat we dagelijks met zonde omgaan en in heiligheid groeien. 2 Korinti\u00ebrs 7:1 daagt ons uit: <em>\u201cLaten wij ons reinigen van alle vuilheid van lichaam en geest, en de heiligheid volmaken in de vreze Gods.\u201d<\/em> Paulus noemt dit opnieuw in 2 Timote\u00fcs 2:21, waar hij ons aanspoort om instrumenten te zijn die geschikt zijn voor het gebruik van de Meester: <em>\u201cEen vat voor eer, geheiligd en nuttig voor de Meester, voorbereid voor elk goed werk.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p>Ten slotte laat het Woord van God ons weten dat zoiets bestaat als <em>volmaakte of volledige heiliging<\/em>. Maar dit zal pas gebeuren wanneer Christus terugkeert, wanneer we Hem zien zoals Hij is en we op Hem zullen lijken (1 Johannes 3:1-2).<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>De Heer verlangt ernaar dat onze harten zich aan Hem overgeven en op een praktische manier aan Hem toegewijd zijn, zoals Hij ons door het volbrachte werk van Christus ook al voor Zichzelf heeft afgezonderd.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sanctified
