De schrijver moedigt ons aan om &#039;Hem te overwegen&#039;. Dit woord &#039;overwegen&#039; betekent &#039;de waarde van Hem afwegen&#039;. Als we kijken naar het leven van de Heer Jezus en alles wat Hij heeft doorstaan, zullen we worden aangemoedigd om door te zetten en niet terug te keren of de geloofsreis op te geven.<\/p><p>Het pad van het geloof kan buitengewoon moeilijk zijn; soms kunnen we moe en ontmoedigd raken. We hebben een heel hoofdstuk in Hebree\u00ebn 11 dat onze ziel zou moeten bemoedigen, maar nog meer als we bedenken wat onze Heer en Redder heeft doorstaan, zien we dat het veel te vroeg is om op te geven! Onze Redder heeft de vijandigheid van zondaars aan het kruis doorstaan, en het bereikte een hoogtepunt toen ze Hem eraan vastnagelden en Hem Zijn laatste adem zagen uitblazen. De Schrift beschrijft wat Hij heeft doorstaan, maar nog belangrijker, hoe Hij het heeft doorstaan. Hij bad voor hen en zei: &quot;Vader, vergeef hun, want ze weten niet wat ze doen&quot; (Lucas 23:34)!<\/p><p>Jij en ik hebben dergelijk kwaad nooit meegemaakt, maar als we de waarde van wat Hij heeft doorstaan inzien, zal dat ons helpen ons te stabiliseren en te versterken voor wat wij wellicht nog zullen meemaken. Tijdens de levensrace zullen we af en toe tegenslagen ondervinden, maar dat is nu eenmaal de aard van de race. Het woord vertaald <em>race <\/em>Het betekent eigenlijk &quot;zich kwellen&quot; of &quot;worstelen&quot;.
