Want u hebt niet de geest van slavernij ontvangen, die u weer tot vrees brengt, maar de Geest van aanneming tot kinderen, door wie wij uitroepen: \u201cAbba, Vader!\u201d De Geest zelf getuigt met onze geest dat wij kinderen van God zijn, en als kinderen, dan ook erfgenamen \u2013 erfgenamen van God en mede-erfgenamen met Christus, als wij inderdaad met Hem lijden, opdat wij ook met Hem verheerlijkt zullen worden.\u201d<\/em><br \/><em><strong>Romeinen 8:14-17<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p>Dit is een van de rijkste en mooiste passages. Hierin legt de apostel Paulus de intieme en blijvende relatie van de gelovige met God uit, als een geliefd kind. Via Paulus beschrijft de Geest van God elke christen als een kind en zoon van God. Als kinderen behoren we tot Gods gezin; als zonen hebben we zowel privileges als verantwoordelijkheden. Paulus herinnert ons eraan dat zij die tot Gods gezin behoren, geleid worden door de Geest, toegang hebben tot God als onze Vader en innerlijke zekerheid ontvangen van de Heilige Geest.<\/p><p>Zoals ik het begrijp, heeft het woord in Romeinen 8:14 de betekenis van zijn <em>\u201cvrijwillig geleid.\u201d<\/em> Met andere woorden, er is een proces van overgave van onze kant. We kunnen dit verbinden met de leer van Galaten 5:16-26, waar we in 5:18 opnieuw lezen over geleid worden door de Geest. Geen van beide passages spreekt tot een specifieke groep mensen. Ze spreken over wat kenmerkend zou moeten zijn voor ieder die belijdt Christus te volgen!<\/p><p>Dit is een geweldige passage. Het leert ons dat we, zodra we tot Gods gezin toetreden, niet langer als baby&#039;s in Christus worden gezien. Een baby kan niet praten, lopen, beslissingen nemen of gebruikmaken van het familievermogen! Wij kunnen wandelen en ons laten leiden door de Geest. We hebben de vrijheid om de leiding van de Geest te volgen. We kunnen spreken en uitroepen: &quot;Abba, Vader.&quot;\u201c<\/p><p>Eerst roept de Geest <em>\u201cAbba, Vader\u201d<\/em> in ons (Gal. 4:6). Dan roept Hij door ons heen, zoals wij roepen., <em>\u201cAbba, Vader.\u201d<\/em> Het is een bewijs van een relatie. In Romeinen 5:1-2 wordt ons geleerd:, <em>\u201cOmdat wij door het geloof gerechtvaardigd zijn, hebben wij vrede met God door onze Heer Jezus Christus, door wie wij ook door het geloof toegang hebben tot deze genade waarin wij staan en ons verheugen in de hoop op de heerlijkheid van God.\u201d<\/em> In Efezi\u00ebrs 3:12 worden we er opnieuw aan herinnerd, <em>\u201cDoor ons geloof in Hem hebben we moed en toegang met vertrouwen.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p>Als kinderen van God kunnen we putten uit Zijn geestelijke rijkdom. We zijn niet alleen erfgenamen, maar mede-erfgenamen met Christus: alles wat van Hem is, zullen we delen! Hoe geweldig! Wat van ons wordt gevraagd, is dat we ons &quot;bereidwillig aan Hem overgeven&quot; om van onze bevoorrechte positie in Christus te kunnen genieten. Laat dit niet over aan een select groepje; het is voor elke christen!<\/p><p>Om ons verder te verzekeren van onze eeuwige relatie met de Vader, getuigt de Heilige Geest met onze geest dat wij kinderen van God zijn. De Heilige Geest is voortdurend aanwezig om innerlijk te getuigen van onze goddelijke aanneming tot kinderen van God en onze eeuwige positie voor God. Hij doet dit door in ons te werken door middel van verlichting en heiliging, en door ons verlangen naar gemeenschap met de Vader.<\/p><p>Paulus doelt hier wellicht op de waarheid van de vrucht van de Geest, die hij benadrukt in Galaten 5:22-23. De Heilige Geest brengt deze vrucht in ons voort en die is het bewijs dat wij bij God horen.<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Als gelovigen hebben we het voorrecht om door de Geest geleid te worden, toegang te hebben tot onze Vader en te rusten in de zekerheid van de Geest dat we Hem toebehoren.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Privileges of God\u2019s Children \u201cFor as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
