Het woord betekende oorspronkelijk &#039;vele vouwen&#039;. In de 19e eeuw werd het gebruikt om een muziekinstrument te beschrijven dat bestond uit een pijp of klankkast met meerdere uitgangen. Zelfs nu nog horen we monteurs spreken over het inlaatspruitstuk in onze automotoren, dat het lucht-brandstofmengsel gelijkmatig over de cilinders verdeelt.<\/p><p>Het woord &#039;veelzijdig&#039; is vertaald als &#039;Gods genade in haar verschillende vormen&#039;, &#039;de gevarieerde genade van God&#039;, &#039;de veelkleurige genade van God&#039; en &#039;de bonte genade van God&#039;. Gods genade heeft vele facetten, net zoals een geslepen diamant vele kanten heeft. Als je een diamant in het licht draait, zie je de unieke eigenschappen en schoonheid ervan. Naarmate je de vele facetten van Gods genade in je leven ervaart, ga je de schoonheid ervan waarderen, die de Ene weerspiegelt die jou in Zijn gunst heeft gebracht.<\/p><p>In de context van het vers van vandaag spoort Petrus ons aan om elkaar te dienen op basis van de geestelijke gave die we hebben ontvangen van het opgestane Hoofd, dat ieder van ons ten minste \u00e9\u00e9n geestelijke gave heeft gegeven. Paulus gaat in Romeinen 12, 1 Korinti\u00ebrs 12 en Efezi\u00ebrs 4 uitgebreid in op deze gaven. Als je die drie passages samenvoegt, besef je dat de hele Godheid deze geestelijke gaven aan ons heeft uitgedeeld. In Romeinen 12 wordt God de Vader gezien als de Gever; in 1 Korinti\u00ebrs 12 is het de Heilige Geest; en in Efezi\u00ebrs 4 is het het opgestane Hoofd van het Lichaam, de Heer Jezus Christus. Hier draagt Petrus ons eenvoudigweg op om goede beheerders te zijn van wat God aan ieder van ons heeft gegeven.<\/p><p>Jij en ik zijn opgenomen in deze veelvoudige genade van God, en het is de bedoeling dat we die in ons leven tonen, niet om de aandacht op onszelf te vestigen, maar om eer te brengen aan Hem die ons die genade heeft gegeven. Petrus zegt verder dat we alles wat we doen, moeten doen &quot;met de kracht die God ons geeft, opdat God in alles verheerlijkt wordt door Jezus Christus&quot; (1 Petrus 4:11).
