Merk op dat de bron van hun heiliging de God van de vrede is. Het omvat elk aspect van hun wezen. Hij bidt niet dat de zondige natuur uit hen wordt uitgeroeid, maar dat elk deel van hen \u2013 geest, ziel en lichaam \u2013 voor God wordt afgezonderd.<\/p><p>Wij zijn geschapen naar het beeld van God. Hij is een Drie-eenheid, en dat zijn wij ook. De Schrift leert dat God God de Vader, God de Zoon en God de Heilige Geest is. De Schrift leert ook dat wij uit drie delen bestaan en dat God wil dat elk deel van ons wordt afgezonderd voor Zijn doeleinden en tot Zijn eer. Laat ik kort ingaan op deze drie delen zoals ze hier worden genoemd.<\/p><p>Onze geest is dat deel van ons dat ons in staat stelt gemeenschap met God te hebben. Het is het deel van ons dat ons in staat stelt te begrijpen en te redeneren. Romeinen 8:16 zegt: &quot;De Geest zelf getuigt met onze geest dat wij kinderen van God zijn.&quot; We zouden dus kunnen zeggen dat onze geest ons bewustzijn van God is, of datgene wat ons een bewustzijn van God geeft. Dit heeft betrekking op ons geestelijk leven en be\u00efnvloedt onze aanbidding en ons gebedsleven. God verlangt ernaar dat we afgezonderd zijn van alles wat ons zou kunnen bezoedelen, zoals 2 Korinti\u00ebrs 7:1 zegt: &quot;Laten wij ons reinigen van alle vuilheid van vlees en geest, en de heiligheid volmaken in de vreze Gods.&quot; Dit is zodat niets het getuigenis van de Heilige Geest in ons leven, in verband met onze relatie met God als Zijn kinderen, zou kunnen verstoren (Romeinen 8:16), en zodat niets onze aanbidding zou kunnen belemmeren of verhinderen, want God zoekt aanbidders, en zij die &quot;Hem aanbidden, moeten Hem aanbidden in geest en waarheid&quot; (Johannes 4:23-24).<\/p><p>Onze ziel heeft te maken met onze emoties, verlangens, gevoelens en neigingen. Het woord &#039;ziel&#039; is hier de oorsprong van ons woord &#039;psychisch&#039;. Het heeft meer te maken met ons zelfbewustzijn. De Heer gebruikt ditzelfde woord in Johannes 12:27, waar Hij zegt: &quot;Mijn ziel is in beroering, wat zal ik zeggen? Vader, red mij van dit uur! Maar hiervoor ben ik tot dit uur gekomen.&quot; Onze ziel, de zetel van onze emoties, moet afgescheiden worden van kwade gedachten: &quot;Maar de dingen die uit de mond van een mens komen, komen uit het hart en maken een mens onrein. Want uit het hart komen boze gedachten, moord, overspel, ontucht, diefstal, valse getuigenis en godslastering voort. Dit zijn de dingen die een mens onrein maken&quot; (Matte\u00fcs 15:18-19). We moeten ons onthouden van vleselijke begeerten die strijd voeren tegen de ziel (1 Petrus 2:11).<\/p><p>Ons lichaam is het huis waarin wij wonen, &quot;ons aardse huis&quot;, zoals 2 Korinti\u00ebrs 5:1 ons eraan herinnert. Dit heeft, zo zouden we kunnen zeggen, meer te maken met ons aardse bewustzijn. Ons lichaam moet ook beschermd worden tegen onreinheid en slecht gebruik (1 Thessalonicenzen 4:3-8; Romeinen 6:19).<\/p><p>De Heer verlangt dat alle drie de gebieden van ons leven \u2013 geest, ziel en lichaam \u2013 geheiligd worden. Dit betekent dat we op elk gebied apart gezet moeten worden voor God, door Hem bewaard moeten worden en onberispelijk moeten zijn voor de mensen, zodat we niemand een gegronde reden geven om ons te beschuldigen.<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/><em>Gij, de God van de vrede, heiligt ons geheel., <\/em><br \/><em>En schenk ons zo&#039;n rijke toename van macht van boven, <\/em><br \/><em>Opdat geest, ziel en lichaam, vrij van smet, bewaard mogen blijven, <\/em><br \/><em>Wees onberispelijk tot die grote dag; Heer Jezus Christus, Amen!<br \/>-Anoniem<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sanctified Completely \u201cNow may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.\u201d\u202d\u202d1 Thessalonians\u202c \u202d5\u202c:\u202d23\u202c As Paul closes his first letter to the Christians at Thessalonica, he prays for their sanctification.
