Dit betekent dat Hij de opperste Heerser van het universum is en dat Hij kan doen wat Hem behaagt. En omdat God ook rechtvaardig is, is alles wat Hem behaagt volmaakt en altijd juist. De Heer verklaart door de profeet Jesaja: &quot;Mijn raad zal standhouden, en Ik zal al Mijn wil doen&quot; (Jesaja 46:10). Nadat Nebukadnezar door de Heer was gestraft, verkondigde hij: &quot;Hij handelt naar Zijn wil in het hemelse leger en onder de bewoners van de aarde. Niemand kan Zijn hand tegenhouden of tot Hem zeggen: &#039;Wat hebt U gedaan?&#039;&quot; (Dani\u00ebl 4:35). In Romeinen 9:20 herinnert Paulus ons eraan dat we geen recht hebben om Gods handelen in twijfel te trekken: &quot;Maar mens, wie bent u om God tegen te spreken? Zal het gevormde tot Hem zeggen: &#039;Waarom hebt U mij zo gemaakt?&#039;&quot; De apostel verklaart ook dat God Degene is &quot;die alle dingen bewerkt naar de raad van Zijn wil&quot; (Efezi\u00ebrs 1:11).<\/p><p>De profeten Jesaja en Jeremia spreken beiden over God als de Meesterpottenbakker (Jesaja 29:16; 45:9; 64:8; Jeremia 18:6). Als Hij de Pottenbakker is, en dat is Hij, dan zijn jij en ik de klei! Hij heeft rechten over ons door de schepping en door de verlossing. We behoren ons in alle omstandigheden aan Hem te onderwerpen en nooit te twijfelen aan Zijn zorg, aandacht en liefde voor het vat dat Hij vormt. De waarheid van Zijn soevereiniteit in mijn leven stelt Hem in staat mij te vormen zoals Hij dat goedvindt, zonder dat ik Zijn beslissingen in twijfel trek.<\/p><p>De leer van Zijn soevereiniteit troost ons ook in tijden van druk, wetende dat Hij, als de Allerhoogste Heerser, Zijn plannen uitvoert en dat deze hun gewenste doel zullen bereiken. Hij is begonnen aan het werk aan Zijn vaartuig en zal het voltooien (Fil. 1:6).
