Het speelgoed dat ik niet kon repareren, belandde meestal in de prullenbak, want dat doe je nu eenmaal met kapotte spullen. Maar God gooit kapotte dingen niet weg; Hij wil ze gebruiken. De wijlen Vance Havner zei ooit: &quot;God gebruikt kapotte dingen. Er is gebroken grond nodig om een gewas voort te brengen, gebroken wolken om regen te geven, gebroken graan om brood te geven, gebroken brood om kracht te geven. Het is de gebroken albasten doos die parfum verspreidt. Het is Petrus, die bitter huilt, die terugkeert tot grotere kracht dan ooit tevoren.&quot;\u201c<\/p><p>Denk aan al die keren in de Schrift dat God dingen brak om anderen te zegenen. Pas toen Jacobs natuurlijke kracht gebroken was, toen zijn heup ontwricht raakte tijdens die worstelwedstrijd, bereikte hij het punt waarop God hem op een krachtige manier kon zegenen. Pas toen Gideons 300 soldaten de kruiken die ze in hun handen hielden, die symbool stonden voor gebrokenheid in hun leven, braken, kon het verborgen licht van de fakkels schijnen en de vijand verslaan. Pas nadat de arme weduwe de verzegeling van haar enige overgebleven kruik met olie had verbroken en die begon uit te gieten, vermenigvuldigde God die op wonderbaarlijke wijze om haar schulden te betalen en in haar behoeften te voorzien.<\/p><p>Pas toen Maria haar prachtige albasten parfumfles brak, waardoor deze zijn nut en waarde verloor, vulde de heerlijke geur het huis en werd Jezus ge\u00eberd. Sterker nog, pas toen Jezus de vijf broden nam en ze brak, werd het brood vermenigvuldigd om de 5000 mensen te voeden. Juist door het breken van de broden vond het wonder plaats. Er gebeurt iets wonderbaarlijks in gebrokenheid, en daarom liet het Brood des Levens, de Heer Jezus, Zijn lichaam voor ons breken, terwijl Hij er rekening mee hield dat geen bot in Zijn lichaam gebroken was (Johannes 19:36; Psalm 34:20). Maar toen Hij het Avondmaal instelde, nam Hij brood en zei: &quot;Neem, eet; dit is Mijn lichaam, dat voor u gebroken wordt&quot; (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 11:24).<\/p><p>Toen de Heer Jezus over Zijn dood sprak, vergeleek Hij Zichzelf met een graankorrel die in de aarde wordt begraven en gebroken. Pas dan ontkiemt het innerlijke leven ervan en brengt het honderden andere zaden en korrels voort (Joh. 12:24). De Heer leert vervolgens dat ook wij op een soortgelijke manier gebroken moeten worden als we ware volgelingen van Christus willen zijn.<\/p><p>God gebruikt gebroken dingen.
