Ik ben je schild, je zeer grote beloning.\u2019\u201d<br \/>Genesis 15:1<\/em><\/p><p>In hoofdstuk veertien had Abraham net twee grote overwinningen behaald. Eerst redde hij Lot, en vervolgens weerstond hij de verleiding van de koning van Sodom. Hij was in staat beide te doen door op God te vertrouwen en gebruik te maken van de middelen die Melchizedek, de koning van Salem, hem ter beschikking stelde. Melchizedek is immers een beeld van de Heer Jezus.<\/p><p>Na deze gebeurtenissen kwam het woord van de Heer tot Abram, dat hem voorbereidde op andere soorten conflicten die meer een innerlijke strijd zouden zijn, een tijd van \u201cverschrikking en grote duisternis\u201d (vers 12). De gebeurtenissen die in vers 13-14 werden voorspeld, vonden plaats in Genesis 46 en in het hele boek Exodus, toen het volk Isra\u00ebl vreemdelingen werd in Egypte.<\/p><p>Vaak valt de vijand na grote overwinningen aan door middel van twijfel, angst en onzekerheid. Maar we zien in ons vers hoe de Heer Abram bemoedigt door Zijn Woord, door te zeggen: &quot;Wees niet bang... Ik ben je schild, je zeer grote beloning.&quot; De Heer wilde dat Abram op Hem vertrouwde \u2013 niet op zijn overwinningen en niet op zijn eigen kunnen. Abram had zojuist de geschenken van de koning van Sodom, die een beeld is van deze wereld, afgewezen. Geloof dat angst overwint, is geloof dat steunt op het Woord van God! Het Woord van de Heer komt op dit moment en zegt: &quot;Wees niet bang.&quot; Dit is de eerste keer dat deze woorden in de Schrift worden uitgesproken, maar ze worden steeds weer herhaald.<\/p><p>Gods remedie voor onze angst is ons eraan te herinneren wie Hij is: &quot;Ik ben uw schild, uw zeer grote beloning!&quot; Hij is de grote IK BEN, en Hij is genoeg om in al onze behoeften te voorzien en elke twijfel weg te nemen. We hoeven alleen maar stil te zijn en te weten dat Hij God is!<\/p><p>Hij verzekerde Abram er ook van dat Hij zijn schild was ter bescherming en zijn buitengewoon grote beloning voor zijn voorziening. Als ons Schild is Hij in staat alle vurige pijlen van twijfel en angst die op ons afkomen te doven. We moeten het schild van het geloof ophouden om te overwinnen, en Hij zal ons Schild zijn. Maar niet alleen dat, Hij is in staat al onze angsten en twijfels te vervangen door Zijn voorziening voor de weg. De voorziening waarmee Hij wil dat we ons bezighouden, is Hijzelf. Hij is onze buitengewoon grote beloning! Hij vertelt Abram vervolgens wat Hij voor hem zal doen (vv. 2-6) en wat Hij voor hem heeft gedaan (vv. 7-21), maar het begon allemaal met wat Hij voor hem is.<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Vriend, als je de grote IK BEN hebt, wat heb je dan nog nodig?
