Maar hij moest leren geduldig op de Heer te wachten en Hem te observeren. Dit hoofdstuk doet denken aan Asaf in Psalm 73, die ook Gods wegen niet begreep. Hij begreep niet waarom goede dingen slechte mensen overkwamen, totdat hij het huis van de Heer binnenging en de dingen vanuit Gods perspectief begon te zien. Voor Habakuk gebeurt dat op de wachttoren. De Heer begint Habakuk de dingen vanuit Zijn perspectief te tonen door hem drie verantwoordelijkheden te geven.<\/p><p>Allereerst moest hij dingen opschrijven. Habakuk had de rol van wachter op zich genomen, wiens taak het was om het volk te waarschuwen voor gevaar. De openbaring die Habakuk ontving, had een directe toepassing op de val van de Babyloni\u00ebrs, maar volgens Hebree\u00ebn 10:37 wees ze ook vooruit naar de toekomstige wederkomst van onze Heer.<\/p><p>De tweede verantwoordelijkheid die aan Habakuk werd gegeven, was om op Gods Woord te vertrouwen. De Heer schetste voor hem een contrast tussen hen die op zichzelf vertrouwen en hen die door geloof leven. In vers 4-5 zien we de gevolgen van hen die vol trots zijn en nooit tevreden zijn. Tegen deze mensen spreekt de Heer in de rest van het hoofdstuk vijf wee\u00ebn uit: wee tegen zelfzuchtige ambitie (2:6-8), wee tegen hebzucht (2:9-11), wee tegen de uitbuiting van mensen (2:12-14), wee tegen dronkenschap en geweld (2:15-17) en wee tegen afgoderij (2:18-20). Het uitspreken van dit oordeel was de derde verantwoordelijkheid die aan Habakuk werd gegeven.<\/p><p>Daartegenover staan zij die door geloof leven. We weten dat de woorden &quot;de rechtvaardige zal door geloof leven&quot; drie keer in het Nieuwe Testament voorkomen: in Romeinen 1:17, waar &quot;de rechtvaardige&quot; wordt benadrukt; in Galaten 3:11, waar &quot;zullen leven&quot; wordt benadrukt; en in Hebree\u00ebn 10:38, waar &quot;door geloof&quot; wordt benadrukt. Dit herinnert ons eraan dat gerechtigheid alleen in Christus te vinden is en dat we door geloof moeten leven.<\/p><p>In vers 4 toont de Heer Habakuk Zijn genade en in vers 14 het vooruitzicht op Zijn heerlijkheid: &quot;Want de aarde zal vol zijn van de kennis van de heerlijkheid van de HEER, zoals het water de zee bedekt.&quot; Hij herinnert de profeet ook aan Zijn heerschappij: &quot;Maar de HEER is in Zijn heilige tempel. Laat de hele aarde zwijgen voor Hem&quot; (2:20). Onze God heeft alles onder controle! Wat is het goed om in deze tijd aan deze drie dingen herinnerd te worden!<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Laten we niet vergeten wat God heeft gezegd en op Zijn Woord vertrouwen.
