Want de wet werd gegeven door Mozes, maar genade en waarheid zijn gekomen door Jezus Christus.\u201d<br \/><strong>Johannes 1:15-17<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p>In vers 14 zagen we dat Gods laatste boodschap aan de mensheid kwam in de vorm van een Mens. Er wordt ons verteld dat Johannes van deze Mens getuigde en verklaarde: &quot;Hij die na mij komt, is voor mij verheven, want Hij was er v\u00f3\u00f3r mij.&quot; Johannes werd weliswaar zes maanden v\u00f3\u00f3r de Heer Jezus geboren (Lucas 1:36), maar hij sprak niet over de fysieke orde der dingen. Hij verwees duidelijk naar de eeuwige pre-existentie van de Heer Jezus. Als de Zoon van God en het Eeuwige Woord bestond de Heer Jezus al lang voordat Johannes verwekt werd.<\/p><p>We begrijpen dat genade Gods onverdiende gunst jegens ons is, ook al verdienen we niets. Onze verzen vertellen ons verder dat zij die in de Heer Jezus geloven, genade hebben ontvangen uit Zijn volheid. Aan Zijn volheid is geen einde. Hij overspoelt ons voortdurend met Zijn genadevolle gunst. Het is genade op genade.<\/p><p>Stel je voor dat je aan de oceaan staat en de ene golf na de andere op de kust ziet rollen. Dat is het beeld dat we voor ons zien. Zijn overvloed aan genade stroomt voort uit Zijn oneindige volheid, en daar komt geen einde aan. Het is genade op genade.<\/p><p>De wet vertelde de mens wat goed was, maar gaf hem geen macht om te voldoen aan de rechtvaardige eisen van een heilige God. Maar genade en waarheid \u2013 de volmaakte balans \u2013 kwamen door de volmaakte Mens en boden de redding die we zo hard nodig hadden: &quot;Want door genade bent u gered, door het geloof, en dat niet uit uzelf; het is een gave van God, niet door werken, opdat niemand zich zou beroemen&quot; (Efezi\u00ebrs 2:8-9).<\/p><p>Jij en ik worden niet alleen door deze genade gered, maar we worden er ook door apart gezet, zodat we tot Gods eer kunnen leven.<\/p><p>Gods boodschap aan ons is dat we door Zijn genade voor eeuwig gered kunnen worden, apart gezet kunnen worden voor Zijn glorie en Hem kunnen dienen als een getuigenis voor een stervende wereld. Dit is alleen mogelijk door genade.<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Neem vandaag even de tijd om te mediteren over Gods onuitputtelijke genade, die Hij voortdurend over ons uitstort en waarmee Hij voor ons volbrengt wat we zelf nooit zouden kunnen doen. Wat een boodschap van liefde en genade!
