Daarom spoort hij ons aan het einde van het boek tweemaal aan: &quot;Denk nu aan uw Schepper&quot; (12:1, 6).<\/p><p>Er is wel eens gezegd dat &quot;de tijd voor niemand stilstaat&quot;. Een ander heeft gezegd dat &quot;de tijd voortschrijdt&quot;. Het enige wat we zeker weten als het om tijd gaat, is het heden.<\/p><p>In hoofdstuk drie van Prediker heeft Salomo veel te zeggen over tijd. Hij somt veertien paren van tegenstellingen op, die elk zowel een positief als een negatief aspect hebben:<\/p><p>\u201cEr is een tijd om geboren te worden en een tijd om te sterven;<br \/>Er is een tijd om te zaaien en een tijd om te oogsten wat gezaaid is;<br \/>Een tijd om te doden, en een tijd om te genezen;<br \/>Een tijd om af te breken, en een tijd om op te bouwen;<br \/>Een tijd om te huilen, en een tijd om te lachen;<br \/>Een tijd om te rouwen, en een tijd om te dansen;<br \/>Er is een tijd om stenen weg te gooien en een tijd om stenen te verzamelen;<br \/>Een tijd om te omhelzen, en een tijd om het omhelzen juist niet te doen;<br \/>Een tijd om te winnen, en een tijd om te verliezen;<br \/>Een tijd om te bewaren, en een tijd om weg te gooien;<br \/>Een tijd om te scheuren, en een tijd om te naaien;<br \/>Een tijd om te zwijgen, en een tijd om te spreken;<br \/>Een tijd om lief te hebben, en een tijd om te haten;<br \/>Een tijd van oorlog en een tijd van vrede\u201d (Prediker 3:2-8).<\/p><p>Salomo noemt het begrip tijd maar liefst achtentwintig keer in dit gedeelte, waarmee hij benadrukt dat God ieder van ons een bepaalde hoeveelheid tijd heeft gegeven en dat het onze verantwoordelijkheid is om die tijd verstandig te gebruiken.<\/p><p>De apostel Paulus herinnert ons eraan dat we &quot;de tijd moeten benutten, want de dagen zijn kwaad&quot; (Efezi\u00ebrs 5:16), en dat we &quot;wijs moeten wandelen jegens hen die buiten de gemeente staan, en de tijd moeten benutten&quot; (Kolossenzen 4:5).<\/p><p>In Romeinen spoort Paulus ons verder aan:<\/p><p>\u201cEn doe dit, wetende dat het tijd is om wakker te worden uit de slaap; want nu is onze redding dichterbij dan toen wij voor het eerst geloofden. De nacht is bijna voorbij, de dag breekt aan. Laten wij daarom de werken der duisternis afleggen en de wapenrusting van het licht aantrekken. Laten wij ons gedragen zoals het hoort, zoals overdag, niet in uitspattingen en dronkenschap, niet in ontucht en wellust, niet in ruzie en afgunst. Maar bekleed u met de Heer Jezus Christus en geef geen ruimte aan het vlees om zijn lusten te bevredigen\u201d (Romeinen 13:11-14).<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>De tijd die ons is gegund, loopt snel ten einde. De vraag die ieder van ons zich moet stellen is: Hoe besteden we de tijd die ons is gegeven?
