Wereldgezindheid is de vijand van godsvrucht.<\/p><p>We weten dat de christen drie fundamentele vijanden heeft: de wereld, het vlees en de duivel. Er is vaak op gewezen dat het vlees strijdt tegen de Geest (Gal. 5:17), terwijl de duivel lijnrecht tegenover de Heer Jezus Christus staat en het wereldse systeem zich verzet tegen de gerechtigheid van God.<\/p><p>Jakobus herinnert ons eraan: &quot;Weet u niet dat vriendschap met de wereld vijandschap met God is? Wie dus een vriend van de wereld wil zijn, maakt zichzelf tot een vijand van God&quot; (Jakobus 4:4). De oude apostel Johannes voegt daaraan toe: &quot;Heb de wereld en de dingen van de wereld niet lief. Want als iemand de wereld liefheeft, is de liefde van de Vader niet in hem. Want alles wat in de wereld is \u2013 de begeerte van het vlees, de begeerte van de ogen en de hoogmoed van het leven \u2013 is niet van de Vader, maar van de wereld. En de wereld gaat voorbij, en haar begeerte ook; maar wie de wil van God doet, blijft voor eeuwig.&quot; 1 Johannes 2:15-17<\/p><p>Het is belangrijk dat we begrijpen dat wereldgezindheid niet zozeer gaat over onze activiteiten \u2013 wat we doen en waar we het doen \u2013 maar over onze houding. Het is mogelijk voor een christen om twijfelachtige vormen van vermaak en dubieuze plaatsen te mijden en toch de wereld lief te hebben. Wereldgezindheid is in de eerste plaats een zaak van het hart die zowel onze gevoelens als onze ambities be\u00efnvloedt. Het be\u00efnvloedt ons hart in relatie tot onze reactie op de liefde van God, en het be\u00efnvloedt onze daden in relatie tot onze gehoorzaamheid aan de wil van God.<\/p><p>We moeten niet vergeten dat de Heer Jezus \u201cZichzelf heeft gegeven voor onze zonden, opdat Hij ons zou verlossen van deze tegenwoordige boze tijd, overeenkomstig de wil van onze God en Vader\u201d (Gal. 1:4).<\/p><p>Het is ook nuttig, in het streven naar godvruchtigheid, te bedenken dat deze wereld momenteel \u2013 maar slechts tijdelijk \u2013 onder de heerschappij van de boze staat (Efezi\u00ebrs 2:2; 6:12; Johannes 12:31; 14:30; 16:11). Als gelovigen in Christus \u201cis de wereld voor Mij gekruisigd en Ik voor de wereld\u201d (Galaten 6:14), en moeten wij \u201conszelf onbesmet van de wereld bewaren\u201d (Jakobus 1:27).<\/p><p>Wereldgezindheid sluipt geleidelijk ons leven binnen: eerst door vriendschap met de wereld (Jakobus 4:4), vervolgens doordat we erdoor besmet raken (Jakobus 1:27), en uiteindelijk doordat we erdoor worden gevormd (Romeinen 12:1-2).<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Wereldgezindheid is de vijand van godsvrucht.
