Maar jij, man Gods, ontvlucht deze dingen en streef naar gerechtigheid, godsvrucht, geloof, liefde, geduld en zachtmoedigheid.&quot;\u201d<br \/><strong>1 Timote\u00fcs 6:6, 11<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p>We leven in een wereld waarin zoveel mensen ontevreden en ongelukkig zijn. Maar wat betekent het eigenlijk om tevreden te zijn? Wat betekent het om godvruchtig te zijn?<\/p><p>Een Bijbelwoordenboek definieert godsvrucht als &quot;de kwaliteit of praktijk van het zich conformeren aan de wetten en wensen van God; vroomheid en morele rechtschapenheid.&quot; Het vervolgt: &quot;Wijsheid is leven in godsvrucht, en de aard van het koninkrijk van God weerspiegelen in het dagelijks leven.&quot; Dit is een nuttige definitie, maar wat betekent het in de praktijk? Hoe ziet tevredenheid eruit? Hoe ziet godsvrucht eruit?<\/p><p>Een werkdefinitie van godsvrucht zou als volgt kunnen luiden: een levensstijl die consequent het karakter van God weerspiegelt.<\/p><p>Het woord <em>godsvrucht<\/em> Het woord komt ongeveer zestien keer voor in het Nieuwe Testament, voornamelijk in de pastorale brieven (1 en 2 Timote\u00fcs en Titus). In 1 Timote\u00fcs 4:7-8 zegt Paulus: <span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, 'Noto Sans', sans-serif, 'Apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol', 'Noto Color Emoji';\">\u201cVerwerp echter godslasterlijke en dwaze fabels en streef naar godsvrucht. Lichamelijke oefening is weliswaar van weinig nut, maar godsvrucht is van nut voor alles, omdat het de belofte inhoudt van het leven dat nu is en van het leven dat komen zal.\u2019<\/span><\/p><p>Vervolgens spreekt hij in 2 Timote\u00fcs 3:5 over hen die wel de schijn van godvruchtigheid hebben, maar de kracht ervan ontkennen. We kunnen een uiterlijke schijn van godvruchtigheid hebben, uiterlijk alle juiste dingen doen, terwijl we innerlijk de essentie en de werkelijkheid missen.<\/p><p>Een leven van ware godsvrucht heeft een kracht die ermee verbonden is. Het is niet simpelweg een religieus leven dat gekenmerkt wordt door uiterlijke routines, zoals naar de kerk gaan of deelnemen aan religieuze activiteiten. Die dingen zijn goed en belangrijk, maar ze bezitten niet de kracht om ons te transformeren. Het is belangrijk om het samenkomen met andere gelovigen niet te verzuimen, maar die praktijk op zich heeft niet de kracht om ons gelijk aan Christus te maken.<\/p><p>Laten we terugkeren naar onze werkdefinitie van godsvrucht en een belangrijke vraag stellen: Hoe kan ik ervoor zorgen dat mijn levensstijl consequent het karakter van God weerspiegelt?<\/p><p>Het antwoord is alleen te vinden in het volgen van God, dagelijks met Hem wandelen en de Heilige Geest toestaan ons te transformeren naar het beeld van Christus.<\/p><p>Hoe kan dit gebeuren? Paulus geeft ons een deel van het antwoord in Romeinen 12:1-2: <span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, 'Noto Sans', sans-serif, 'Apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol', 'Noto Color Emoji';\">\u201cDaarom smeek ik u, broeders, bij de barmhartigheid van God, dat u uw lichamen stelt als een levend offer, heilig en aanvaardbaar voor God, want dat is uw redelijke dienst. En word niet gelijkvormig aan deze wereld, maar word veranderd door de vernieuwing van uw gezindheid, opdat u kunt onderscheiden wat de goede, aanvaardbare en volmaakte wil van God is.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Godsvrucht is het resultaat van het werk van de Heilige Geest in een gelovige, waardoor eigenschappen ontstaan die Christus weerspiegelen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Godliness \u201cNow godliness with contentment is great gain\u2026 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.\u201d1 Timothy 6:6, 11 We live in a world where so many people are discontented and unhappy.
