Liefde in het zicht<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cMaar de vrucht van de Geest is liefde, vreugde, vrede, geduld, vriendelijkheid, goedheid, trouw, zachtmoedigheid en zelfbeheersing. Tegen zulke dingen bestaat geen wet.\u201d
Galaten 5:22-23<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

In Johannes 13:34-35 zei de Heer Jezus tegen zijn discipelen: "Een nieuw gebod geef ik jullie: dat jullie elkaar liefhebben, zoals Ik jullie heb liefgehad. Hieraan zullen allen herkennen dat jullie mijn discipelen zijn: als jullie elkaar liefhebben."\u201c<\/p>

Deze liefde is geen vriendschappelijke liefde (phileo<\/em> (in het Grieks), noch is het eros<\/em> liefde, waaruit wij ons woord verkrijgen erotisch<\/em>. Dat is het ook niet. opslag<\/em> liefde, wat verwijst naar genegenheid binnen het gezin.<\/p>

De liefde die onder gelovigen zichtbaar moet zijn, is de liefde die \u00e9\u00e9n aspect van de vrucht van de Geest laat zien. Het is de liefde van God die door ons heen wordt getoond. Het is agape<\/em> liefde\u2014goddelijke liefde. Agape<\/em> Dit is de ware aard van God en moet worden getoond door hen die door het voltooide werk van Zijn geliefde Zoon een relatie met Hem hebben gekregen.<\/p>

Dit zien we duidelijk in 1 Johannes 4:7-12:<\/p>

\u201cGeliefden, laten we elkaar liefhebben, want de liefde komt van God. Iedereen die liefheeft, is uit God geboren en kent God. Wie niet liefheeft, kent God niet, want God is liefde. Hierin is Gods liefde jegens ons geopenbaard: dat God zijn eniggeboren Zoon naar de wereld heeft gezonden, opdat wij door Hem zouden leven. Hierin bestaat de liefde: niet dat wij God hebben liefgehad, maar dat Hij ons heeft liefgehad en zijn Zoon heeft gezonden als verzoening voor onze zonden. Geliefden, als God ons zo heeft liefgehad, moeten ook wij elkaar liefhebben. Niemand heeft God ooit gezien. Als we elkaar liefhebben, woont God in ons en wordt zijn liefde in ons volmaakt.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>

We zijn er zo aan gewend om liefde als een gevoel te beschouwen, maar dat is niet het geval met liefde. agape<\/em> Liefde. Agape<\/em> Liefde is onvoorwaardelijke liefde. Ze wordt gedefinieerd door wat ze doet, niet door hoe ze voelt. Ze omvat trouw, toewijding en een daad van wil. Liefde is een keuze.<\/p>

Dit is de liefde die God ons heeft getoond en de liefde die Hij van ons verwacht. Het is de soort liefde die het welzijn van anderen zoekt, ondanks het offer dat daarvoor nodig is. De Geest van God wijdt een heel hoofdstuk \u2013 1 Korinti\u00ebrs 13 \u2013 aan de beschrijving van wat liefde doet. Maar de grootste illustratie van goddelijke liefde zien we aan het kruis, waar \u201cGod zijn liefde voor ons bewijst, doordat Christus voor ons gestorven is toen wij nog zondaars waren\u201d, en waar \u201cde Zoon van God mij liefhad en Zichzelf voor mij heeft gegeven\u201d (Romeinen 5:8; Galaten 2:20).<\/p>

Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong>
Ware, opofferende liefde kan alleen door de kracht van de Geest van God in ons tot uiting komen.
