Het Woord zoeken<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cIk heb het Wetboek gevonden in het huis van de Heer<\/span>.En Hilkia gaf het boek aan Safan\u2026 Zo gebeurde het, toen de koning de woorden van de Wet hoorde, dat hij zijn kleren scheurde.
2 Kronieken 34:15, 19<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>

Josia werd op zeer jonge leeftijd koning in een zeer duistere tijd, maar "hij week niet af naar rechts of naar links" (2 Kronieken 34:2). Hij was zeer evenwichtig en verviel niet in het ene of het andere uiterste. Josia werd geconfronteerd met verdeeldheid, verwarring en allerlei kwaad. Maar juist in die donkere dagen bracht het licht van Gods Woord een herleving in het land.<\/p>

Het Boek der Wet werd gevonden; het was verwaarloosd, vergeten en zoekgeraakt in de tempel. Misschien beschouwden sommigen het als een oud, achterhaald relikwie; misschien was dat de reden waarom het zoekgeraakt was in het huis van de Heer. Volgens de bevelen die aan Jozua waren gegeven, mocht dit boek niet uit hun mond wijken. Ze moesten het bestuderen en zich eraan onderwerpen (Jozua 1:7-9). Elke nieuwe koning, \u201cwanneer hij op de troon van zijn koninkrijk zit \u2026 zal voor zichzelf een afschrift van deze wet in een boek schrijven, naar het voorbeeld van het boek dat de priesters, de Levieten, hadden\u201d (Deuteronomium 17:18). Maar dit was al enige tijd verwaarloosd.<\/p>

Jij en ik leven in een samenleving die het Woord van God in veel opzichten heeft verwaarloosd. De Bijbel wordt gezien als een achterhaald religieus relikwie dat niet langer van toepassing is op de wereld waarin we leven. Maar juist die verwaarlozing verklaart waarom onze steden, ons land en onze wereld zich in de huidige toestand bevinden. Veel zogenaamde gelovigen hebben het Woord van God vandaag de dag verwaarloosd. Vaak wordt de Bijbel weggewuifd, afgezwakt of simpelweg beschouwd als niet relevant voor onze wereld. Maar we moeten zijn zoals Jeremia, die zei: "Uw woorden werden gevonden, en ik at ze, en uw woord was voor mij de vreugde en de blijdschap van mijn hart" (Jeremia 15:16).<\/p>
