In 2 Koningen 23 lezen we over de afgodische tijd waarin deze jongen geboren werd. Toch is hij, ondanks de omstandigheden waarin hij opgroeide, de laatste goede koning van Juda. Wat maakte hem zo&#039;n goede koning, zelfs op achtjarige leeftijd? Wat kenmerkte de opwekking die door zo&#039;n toegewijd hart teweeggebracht werd? Welke geestelijke lessen kunnen we hieruit toepassen in ons eigen leven?<\/p><p>We kunnen deze vragen beantwoorden door een overzicht te geven van het leven van Josia, zoals beschreven in 2 Kronieken 34. Ten eerste begint geestelijke vernieuwing met gehoorzaamheid aan het Woord van God. Ten tweede is geestelijke honger nodig voor een opwekking; let op dat Josia &quot;begon de God van zijn vader David te zoeken&quot; (vers 3). Ten derde leren we dat geestelijke opwekking alleen kan plaatsvinden in verbinding met Gods Woord (verzen 8-21). Ten vierde is er een geestelijke respons wanneer het Woord van God duidelijk wordt onderwezen (verzen 29-33), wat leidt tot eenheid onder het volk. Ten vijfde is ware geestelijke aanbidding het resultaat van waarachtig geestelijk werk dat in de harten van het volk wordt verricht. Het Pascha werd gevierd en de Heer had opnieuw Zijn rechtmatige plaats onder Zijn volk!<\/p><p>Dit alles gebeurde omdat deze jongeman op zestienjarige leeftijd de Heer serieus begon te nemen. Op twintigjarige leeftijd begon hij ijverig alles uit te roeien wat zijn God niet eerde (vers 3). Toen hij zesentwintig was, was hij diep betrokken bij de geestelijke omstandigheden in het huis van de Heer (verzen 8-10). Dit alles nog voordat hij dertig jaar oud was!<\/p><p>Josia is een voorbeeld voor ieder van ons, ongeacht onze leeftijd. Hij is een prachtig voorbeeld om te bestuderen en te leren van de eigenschappen van een persoon die God kan gebruiken, zelfs in tijden van geestelijke ontwrichting, om een geestelijke herleving teweeg te brengen.<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Ben jij een Josia? Kan God jou gebruiken tot Zijn eer?
