Merk op dat de bron van hun heiliging de God van de vrede is. Het omvat elk deel van hun wezen (&quot;volledig&quot;). Hij bidt niet dat de zondige natuur uit hen wordt uitgeroeid, maar dat elk deel van hen \u2013 geest, ziel en lichaam \u2013 voor God wordt afgezonderd.<\/p><p data-start=\"913\" data-end=\"1336\">Onze geest is dat deel van ons dat ons in staat stelt gemeenschap met God te hebben. Het is het deel van ons dat ons in staat stelt geestelijk te begrijpen en te redeneren. Romeinen 8:16 zegt: &quot;De Geest zelf getuigt met onze geest dat wij kinderen van God zijn.&quot; We zouden kunnen zeggen dat onze geest ons Godsbewustzijn is \u2013 het deel van ons dat ons in staat stelt een relatie met Hem aan te gaan. Dit heeft betrekking op ons geestelijk leven en be\u00efnvloedt onze aanbidding en ons gebed.<\/p><p data-start=\"1338\" data-end=\"1694\">Onze ziel heeft te maken met onze emoties, verlangens, gevoelens en neigingen. Het woord &#039;ziel&#039; is hier de oorsprong van ons woord &#039;psychisch&#039;. Het heeft meer te maken met ons zelfbewustzijn. De Heer gebruikt ditzelfde woord in Johannes 12:27, waar Hij zegt: &quot;Mijn ziel is in beroering, wat zal Ik zeggen? Vader, red Mij van dit uur! Maar hiervoor ben Ik tot dit uur gekomen.&quot;\u201c<\/p><p data-start=\"1696\" data-end=\"1839\">Ons lichaam is het huis waarin wij wonen \u2013 \u201cons aardse huis\u201d, zoals 2 Korinti\u00ebrs 5:1 ons eraan herinnert. Dit heeft betrekking op ons wereldbewustzijn.<\/p><p data-start=\"2498\" data-end=\"3008\">God wil dat onze geest wordt afgezonderd van alles wat ons zou kunnen bezoedelen. Zoals 2 Korinti\u00ebrs 7:1 zegt: &quot;Laten wij ons reinigen van alle vuilheid van vlees en geest, en de heiligheid volmaken in de vreze Gods.&quot; Dit zorgt ervoor dat niets het getuigenis van de Heilige Geest in ons leven of onze relatie met God als Zijn kinderen belemmert (Romeinen 8:16). Het zorgt er ook voor dat niets onze aanbidding in de weg staat, want God zoekt aanbidders die &quot;Hem moeten aanbidden in geest en waarheid&quot; (Johannes 4:23-24).<\/p><p data-start=\"3010\" data-end=\"3472\">Onze ziel, de zetel van onze emoties, moet afgescheiden zijn van kwade gedachten. Zoals de Heer zei: &quot;Wat uit de mond komt, komt uit het hart en maakt de mens onrein. Want uit het hart komen boze gedachten, moord, overspel, ontucht, diefstal, valse getuigenis en godslastering voort. Dit zijn de dingen die de mens onrein maken&quot; (Matte\u00fcs 15:18-19). We worden ook opgeroepen ons te onthouden van vleselijke verlangens die strijden tegen de ziel (1 Petrus 2:11).<\/p><p data-start=\"3474\" data-end=\"3636\">Ook ons lichaam moet worden beschermd tegen onreinheid en zondig gebruik (1 Thessalonicenzen 4:3-8; Romeinen 6:19). Het moet aan God worden overgegeven als een instrument van gerechtigheid.<\/p><p data-start=\"3474\" data-end=\"3636\"><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>De Heer verlangt dat alle drie de gebieden van ons leven \u2013 geest, ziel en lichaam \u2013 geheiligd, bewaard en onberispelijk zijn wanneer Hij terugkeert.
