De race lopen<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Laten wij daarom, omringd door zo'n grote wolk van getuigen, alle ballast en de zonde die ons zo gemakkelijk in de val lokt, afleggen en met volharding de race lopen die voor ons ligt.
Hebree\u00ebn 12:1<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>

Het woord 'daarom' is een brug die ons terug verbindt met de zogenaamde 'helden van het geloof' in hoofdstuk 11. De ene na de andere naam wordt genoemd van mannen en vrouwen die volhardden in hun geloof! Ze waren niet perfect, maar ze waren volhardend! Wat zorgde ervoor dat ze doorzetten ondanks de obstakels die ze tegenkwamen? Het was het doel dat hen voor ogen stond! Het doel van hun geloof was groter dan welk obstakel dan ook! Of het nu gaat om aanbidding, wandelen met God, werken voor God of gehoorzaamheid aan Zijn Woord, het uithoudingsvermogen en de kracht om door te gaan vinden we in het doel dat we nastreven.<\/p>

Aangezien ons verteld wordt dat het zonder geloof onmogelijk is God te behagen (Hebree\u00ebn 11:6), kunnen we ons afvragen: "Wat is geloof?" Er wordt ons verteld wat geloof doet: "Het geloof is de bevestiging van de dingen die men hoopt, de overtuiging van de dingen die men niet ziet" (Hebree\u00ebn 11:1). jnd<\/span>Dit is meer een beschrijving van wat geloof doet dan van wat het is. Geloof is onwankelbare, vol vertrouwen gehoorzaamheid aan Gods Woord, ongeacht onze omstandigheden. Het is het vermogen om in God te rusten en al onze last op Hem te leggen!<\/p>

Christus is het fundament van ons geloof. Let op het woord 'overtuiging'. Wanneer Hij het voorwerp van ons hart is, ontwikkelen we de overtuiging dat Hij Zijn woord zal houden! Dit alles draait om Hem als het voorwerp van ons hart en onze ziel. De mensen die in hoofdstuk 11 worden genoemd, fungeren als getuigen en zeggen tegen ieder van ons: "Wij vertrouwden op Hem; jij kunt dat ook!"\u201c<\/p>
