Want wij hebben geen Hogepriester die geen medelijden kan hebben met onze zwakheden, maar die in alle opzichten verzocht is zoals wij, maar zonder zonde. Laten wij daarom vol vertrouwen naderen tot de troon der genade, opdat wij barmhartigheid ontvangen en genade vinden om geholpen te worden in tijden van nood. <br \/><strong>Hebree\u00ebn 4:14-16<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div><div class=\"LIN-Text\"><p>De verzen van vandaag onthullen ons een uiterst belangrijk aspect van het priesterlijke werk van onze Heer. Omdat de Heer Jezus Christus heeft geleden en is gestorven, is opgestaan en naar de hemel is opgevaren, kan Hij nu medeleven voelen met onze zwakheid. Terwijl Hij hier op aarde was, werd Hij verzocht op alle mogelijke manieren waarop wij verzocht zouden kunnen worden. Maar de schrijver voegt hier een zeer belangrijk detail aan toe: Hij was zonder zonde. Ons wordt verteld dat onze Heer geen zonde kende (2 Korinti\u00ebrs 5:21), geen zonde deed (1 Petrus 2:22) en dat er in Hem geen zonde was (1 Johannes 3:5). Hij was het volmaakte, zondeloze offer voor de zonde! Toch kan Hij als mens de pijn ervaren die wij in dit leven meemaken. En omdat Hij onze zwakheid begrijpt, en omdat Hij het zondeloze offer voor de zonde was, kunnen wij tot Hem komen om barmhartigheid (Gods liefdevolle goedheid) te ontvangen en genade (Gods onverdiende gunst) te vinden aan de troon der genade!<\/p><p>Als dat nog niet genoeg is, herinnert Hebree\u00ebn 7:25 ons eraan dat deze gezegende Hogepriester eeuwig leeft om voor ons te pleiten en in staat is om tot het uiterste te redden wie tot God komen!<\/p><p>Wat een bemoedigende gedachte dat er een Man in de hemelse heerlijkheid is die ons kan bijstaan, met ons meevoelt en voor ons bemiddelt. Wat een barmhartige en genadige Hogepriester!
