Christus openbaren<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

De openbaring van Jezus Christus, die God Hem gaf om aan Zijn dienaren te tonen \u2013 dingen die binnenkort moeten gebeuren. En Hij zond een engel en gaf die door aan Zijn dienaar Johannes. <\/em>
Openbaring 1:1<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/div>

Velen beschouwen het boek Openbaring als een mysterie, iets complex en moeilijk te begrijpen, maar de sleutel ligt in de allereerste twee woorden van ons vers., de Openbaring<\/em>. Het Griekse woord voor 'openbaring' betekent 'onthullen'; het komt achttien keer voor in het Nieuwe Testament, en elke keer dat het gebruikt wordt met betrekking tot een persoon, duidt het op zichtbaar worden.<\/p>

Het boek Openbaring gaat niet zozeer over profetie, hoewel het wel profetie bevat. Het thema van dit boek is het openbaren van de Heer Jezus. De Heer Jezus kwam om de Vader te openbaren (Matte\u00fcs 11:27) en Hem te verkondigen (Johannes 1:18). Maar nu verlangt de Vader ernaar de Heer Jezus te openbaren als Degene die Hij wil verhogen vanwege wie Hij is en vanwege wat Hij heeft volbracht. Dit boek gaat over Hem!<\/p>

Er valt veel te leren als we het boek Openbaring lezen. In hoofdstuk 1 tot en met 3 lezen we de waarschuwingen aan de kerk en de noodzaak van heiliging. We lezen over de kracht die in Christus te vinden is, die de gelovige sterkt om Satan te overwinnen. In hoofdstuk 4 en 5 lezen we over de aanbidding rond de troon. Dit verbazingwekkende boek onthult het einde van de menselijke geschiedenis zoals wij die nu kennen, en schetst hoe dit zal gebeuren. Het onthult ook de komende heerlijkheid van de Heer Jezus in Zijn aardse heerschappij als Koning der koningen en Heer der heren. Het herinnert ons eraan dat zij die zonder Christus zijn, zich voor Hem moeten verantwoorden bij het oordeel voor de Grote Witte Troon en geeft een klein voorproefje van hoe de eeuwige staat eruit zal zien. Maar het thema dat door dit hele boek heen geweven is, is de majesteit en heerlijkheid van de Heer Jezus Christus.<\/p>
