Wat betreft de rijken in deze tijd, vermaan hen niet hoogmoedig te zijn en hun hoop niet te vestigen op de onzekerheid van rijkdom, maar op God, die ons in overvloed van alles voorziet om van te genieten.
1 Timote\u00fcs 6:17<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>

Wat geeft je voldoening in het leven? Paulus herinnert ons hier in dit vers eraan dat ware voldoening niet te vinden is in onze rijkdom, maar in de God die ons niet alleen alles geeft wat we nodig hebben, maar ook wil dat we genieten van wat Hij ons geeft. Dit is het geheim van ware tevredenheid: meer genieten van de Gever van de zegeningen dan van de zegeningen zelf!<\/p>

Mozes is hierin een voorbeeld voor ons. We lezen: "Door het geloof weigerde Mozes, toen hij volwassen was, de zoon van de dochter van de farao genoemd te worden. Hij verkoos liever met het volk van God vernederd te worden dan te genieten van de vergankelijke genoegens van de zonde. Hij achtte de smaad van Christus een grotere rijkdom dan de schatten van Egypte, want hij zag uit naar de beloning" (Hebree\u00ebn 11:24-26). Mozes wist dat hij zijn hoop niet moest vestigen op de onzekerheid van rijkdom, maar op God zelf!<\/p>

Salomo daarentegen moest dit op de harde manier leren. Prediker beschrijft Salomo's zoektocht naar voldoening, waarbij hij in alles behalve de Heer naar tevredenheid zocht. Hij dacht dat plezierige bezigheden in zijn behoeften zouden voorzien (Prediker 2:1-3), maar dit liet hem alleen maar leeg achter. Hij dacht dat "dingen" hem voldoening zouden geven (vv. 7-8), maar aan het einde van al zijn zoektocht verklaart hij: "Ik haatte het leven, want alles wat onder de zon gebeurt, is mij een hel, want alles is ijdelheid en een najagen van de wind" (v. 17).<\/p>

Net als zovelen vandaag de dag zocht Salomo naar de zin van het leven, naar echte hoop voor de toekomst. Voldoening in het heden en hoop voor de toekomst vind je in een levende relatie met Jezus Christus!<\/p><\/div>
