Daarom, of we nu leven of sterven, we behoren de Heer toe.<br \/><\/em><strong><em>Romeinen 14:8<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/div><div class=\"LIN-Text\"><p>De hoop die wij als volgelingen van Jezus Christus koesteren, zou invloed moeten hebben op elk aspect van ons leven, inclusief onze kijk op de dood. De apostel Paulus kon zeggen: &quot;Want voor mij is leven Christus, en sterven winst&quot; (Fil. 1:21). Hij kon dit zeggen omdat hij wist dat zijn hoop verankerd was in een Man in de heerlijkheid die zijn plaats in de hemel had veiliggesteld door zijn leven te geven voor Paulus en voor ieder mens die zijn of haar geloof zou stellen in het volbrachte werk van Christus aan het kruis!<\/p><p>Elke dag sterven er wereldwijd meer dan 5000 mensen. Sommigen sterven een natuurlijke dood, anderen door tragische ongelukken en weer anderen door misdaad. Voor sommigen is de dood iets wat ze verwachten, terwijl die voor anderen onverwacht komt. Omdat de zonde in de wereld is gekomen, is de dood een onderdeel van het leven. Maar voor hen die zich realiseren dat ze zondaren zijn en tot God zijn gekomen door Zijn geliefde Zoon, de Heer Jezus, is de dood slechts het middel dat ons naar de tegenwoordigheid van onze gezegende Heer brengt! Door de hoop in Christus wordt de dood gezien als een begin, niet als een einde! Omdat Christus de dood heeft overwonnen (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 15:20-28), geeft de hoop die we in Hem hebben ons de moed om niet bang te zijn. Terwijl hij op zijn sterfbed lag, schreef de puritein John Owen: &quot;Ik bevind me nog in het land der stervenden, maar ik hoop spoedig in het land der levenden te zijn.&quot;\u201c<\/p><p>David zou ons er allemaal aan herinneren dat de dood slechts een schaduw is (Psalm 23:4), wat betekent dat er licht is. Het Licht dat er is voor elke gelovige is de Heer Jezus Christus. De gelovige behoort Christus toe in het leven, en de gelovige behoort Christus toe in de dood! Dit is de hoop die Hij voor ieder van ons heeft veiliggesteld toen Hij Zijn leven voor ons gaf, in onze plaats, aan het kruis. Wanneer we ons geloof in Hem en Zijn volbrachte werk stellen, is deze hoop de onze! Is het vandaag ook de jouwe?<\/p><p><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/><em>Van Hem, die mij nu zo goed liefheeft,<\/em><br \/><em>Welke macht kan mijn ziel verbreken?<\/em><br \/><em>Zal het leven, de dood, de aarde of de hel de doorslag geven?<\/em><br \/><em>Nee; Ik ben voor eeuwig van Hem.<\/em><br \/><em>\u2013 James Small<\/em><\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Facing Death With Hope For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord.
