Maar ik ben een worm, geen mens; een voorwerp van spot voor de mensen, veracht door het volk.
Psalm 22:6<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/div>

In Psalm 22 vinden we verschillende beschrijvingen van de Heer Jezus die wijzen op Zijn lijden en Zijn unieke persoon en positie als Messias. Ten eerste horen we Hem in dit vers profetisch zeggen: "Ik ben een worm, geen mens." Dit woord voor worm<\/em> Het woord komt ongeveer 31 keer voor in het Oude Testament en wordt vaak vertaald als "scharlakenrood" of "karmozijnrood".\u201c<\/p>

De worm waar het hier over gaat, heet tola; het is een kleine worm die zich voedt met planten, en wanneer hij wordt vermalen, levert hij een prachtige scharlakenrode kleurstof op die permanent en kostbaar is, en die door de rijken wordt gedragen. De letterlijke betekenis van het woord scharlaken is dan ook "de pracht van de worm". Wanneer het op de Heer van toepassing is, herinnert het ons eraan dat Hij verpletterd moest worden opdat Zijn glorie en pracht zichtbaar zouden worden. Het spreekt van Zijn vernedering door mensen, een schande voor mensen en veracht door het volk. Hij werd verpletterd en ter dood gebracht, opdat u en ik zouden leven en bekleed zouden worden met de glorieuze gewaden van onze verlossing!<\/p>

De uitdrukking "en niemand" betekent eigenlijk "een onbeduidend persoon". Dit doet ons denken aan wat we lezen in Filippenzen 2:5-7: "Christus Jezus ... heeft Zichzelf ontledigd, de gestalte van een dienstknecht aangenomen en is in de gedaante van een mens verschenen."\u201c<\/p>

Een andere uitdrukking vinden we in Psalm 22:20: "Bevrijd mij van het zwaard, mijn kostbaar leven van de macht van de hond." De uitdrukking "mijn kostbaar leven" wordt door sommigen vertaald als "mijn enige". Deze uitdrukking wordt vijf keer in het Nieuwe Testament gebruikt met betrekking tot de Heer Jezus als de "eniggeborene". In Genesis 22:2 wordt het gebruikt voor Isaak, die een beeld is van de Heer Jezus. De Heer Jezus is de enige unieke, eeuwige Zoon van God. Zelfs toen Hij aan het kruis hing, na Zijn lijden en nadat Hij Zijn geest had overgegeven, verklaarde de centurion: "Waarlijk, dit was de Zoon van God" (Matte\u00fcs 27:54)!<\/p>

Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong>
De Heilige, die geen zonde kende, God heeft Hem voor ons tot zonde gemaakt;
De Verlosser stierf om onze zielen te redden, aan het schandelijke kruis.
Alleen Zijn kostbaar bloed was voldoende om onze zonden weg te wassen;
Door zwakte overwon Hij de hel, door de dood behaalde Hij de overwinning.
