Er zijn veel lessen te leren uit dit gedeelte, maar ik wil me richten op het thema aanbidding, de reden voor deze ontmoeting. De Heer ontmoette deze vrouw precies waar ze was en wees haar op de diepe behoefte van haar hart. Hij maakte haar duidelijk dat ze dorst had naar iets, maar dat ze niet eens wist wat het was. Hij liet haar zien hoe leeg haar leven was geweest, terwijl ze probeerde het diepe verlangen in haar hart te stillen. Ze had een leegte die vijf echtgenoten niet konden vullen. Leven in zonde kon de leegte in haar hart niet bevredigen of vervullen. Waarom niet? Omdat ze geschapen was om haar Schepper te aanbidden en een relatie met Hem te hebben.<\/p><p data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"1204\">Toen het onderwerp aanbidding ter sprake kwam, zei de Heer dat de Vader op zoek is naar aanbidders en dat, aangezien God Geest is, Hij in geest en waarheid aanbeden moet worden. Deze vrouw zocht naar de zin van het leven, maar moest beseffen dat ze geestelijk dood was. Alleen door een ontmoeting met de God die Geest is, kon ze in haar eigen geest levend gemaakt worden. Net als deze vrouw bij de bron, moest onze geest nieuw leven ingeblazen worden \u2013 tot leven gewekt worden \u2013 en zodra dat gebeurd is, kunnen we God in geest aanbidden.<\/p><p data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1722\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Als we onze zonden voor God proberen te verbergen, als we ze niet voor Hem belijden, zullen we Hem niet kunnen aanbidden. Dit is wat koning David in zijn geest ervoer. Hij beschreef het als zijn beenderen die oud werden en zijn levenskracht die veranderde in de droogte van de zomer (Psalm 32:3-5). David vond het onmogelijk om te aanbidden totdat hij zijn zonden erkende (Psalm 51:14-17). Hij kon niet voor God verbergen wat er in zijn hart was. God verlangt naar waarheid in het innerlijk (Psalm 51:6). Dit is de betekenis van het aanbidden van God in geest en waarheid.<\/p><p data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1722\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<br \/><\/strong>Vader der lichten, wiens goddelijke wil door Uw waarachtig woord is geopenbaard. <br \/>U hebt ons verwekt en ons tot de Uwen gemaakt, voor eeuwig zij U aanbeden.<\/p><div dir=\"ltr\">O, raad alle goden aan om ware aanbidders onder hen te vinden. <br \/>Die eens, vervreemd door vleselijke gezindheid, Uw en Jezus&#039; vijanden waren!<\/div><div dir=\"ltr\">~ R.
