Het is tijd dat christenen zout en licht zijn. We doen dit niet door het wereldse patroon van machtswellust te volgen, maar door de cultuur te confronteren met de liefde van Christus. Dit betekent onze vijanden liefhebben, hen zegenen die ons vervloeken, zachtmoedig en nederig van hart zijn en bereid zijn om omwille van Zijn naam vervolgd te worden.<\/p><p data-start=\"782\" data-end=\"1416\">Waarom zouden we dat doen? Vanwege de liefde van Jezus. We houden van onze grote Redder. En we hebben een vurig verlangen om anderen tot redding te zien komen. We begrijpen hen, omdat we ooit net als zij waren. Ook wij waren ego\u00efstisch, onheilig, ondankbaar en liefdeloos. We weten dat de seksueel immorele, de afgodendienaar, de overspeler en degenen die homoseksualiteit bedrijven het koninkrijk van God niet zullen be\u00ebrven (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 6:9-10). Sterker nog, we begrijpen dat sommigen van ons zo waren \u2013 maar wij zijn gewassen, wij zijn geheiligd. De toorn van God die over ons hing vanwege onze zonden, is door Christus aan het kruis gedragen als onze Plaatsvervanger. We zijn gerechtvaardigd in de naam van Jezus (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 6:11).<\/p><p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"2094\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Jezus heeft onze zonden uitgewist en ons doodvonnis weggenomen. Wat zouden we nog meer nodig hebben? Wat zouden we nog meer willen? Waar zouden we bang voor moeten zijn? Vanwege Zijn grote liefde voor ons verloochenen we onszelf, nemen we ons kruis op en volgen we Hem (Matte\u00fcs 16:24). We zijn niet langer schuldenaren van het vlees, die ons naar de wetten van het vlees leiden (Romeinen 8:12). Door de Geest weerstaan we onze zondige verlangens, omdat we een grotere liefde hebben: Jezus Christus. De wereld leeft naar het vlees, en wie naar het vlees leeft, zal sterven (Romeinen 8:13). Het loon van de zonde hangt nog steeds boven hen. We kunnen en willen niet meedoen aan hun wegen. We zullen niet terugkeren naar slavernij nu Christus ons heeft bevrijd. Maar we zullen de verloren wereld tot redding in Jezus roepen, zelfs als velen in deze wereld ons daarvoor haten. We zullen de weg blijven wijzen, want dat is wat ze meer dan wat ook nodig hebben.<\/p><p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"2094\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong>Ankerpunt voor
