Hij stond op en viel de Filistijnen aan totdat zijn hand moe was en aan het zwaard vastgeplakt zat. De HEER bracht die dag een grote overwinning teweeg, en het volk keerde na hem terug om te plunderen.\u201d<\/em><br \/><strong><em>2 Samuel 23:9-10<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"621\">Eleazar \u2013 zijn naam betekent \u201cGod is mijn Helper\u201d. Hij was de zoon van Dodo of Dodai, wat \u201czijn geliefde\u201d betekent, en hij was een Ahohiet, wat \u201cbroeder van de rust\u201d betekent. Deze man deed zijn naam eer aan door op God te vertrouwen voor zijn hulp. Hij bleef staan toen anderen terugdeinsden. Hij maakte het gedrag van anderen niet tot maatstaf voor zijn leven. Hij stond er alleen voor \u2013 maar nooit echt alleen \u2013 de Heer was zijn Helper! Hij herinnert ons eraan dat als er overwinning moet zijn, die \u201cniet door macht of kracht, maar door Mijn Geest\u201d is, zegt de Heer (Zacharia 4:6). Zonder Hem kunnen we niets doen (Johannes 15:5), maar \u201cwe kunnen alles doen door Christus, die ons kracht geeft\u201d (Filippenzen 4:13).<\/p><p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"1102\">Eleazar ging niet met de menigte mee, maar stond voor zijn overtuigingen en gebruikte wat hij had: zijn zwaard. Wat een voorbeeld voor ieder van ons, jong en oud. Om bekwaam te zijn met het zwaard, moeten we het kennen en ermee vertrouwd zijn. Ons zwaard is het Woord van God, &quot;het zwaard van de Geest, dat is het woord van God&quot; (Efezi\u00ebrs 6:17). We moeten &quot;ons inspannen om onszelf aan God te presenteren als een beproefde arbeider, die zich niet hoeft te schamen, die het woord van de waarheid recht verdeelt&quot; (2 Timote\u00fcs 2:15).<\/p><p data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1289\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Een laatste opvallend kenmerk van Eleazar is dat hij deelde waarvoor hij had gevochten, ook al namen anderen niet deel aan de strijd.
