Het woord <em data-start=\"94\" data-end=\"104\">gevaarlijk<\/em> is <em data-start=\"108\" data-end=\"118\">chalepos<\/em> In het Grieks heeft het de betekenis van moeilijk, gevaarlijk, lastig of wreed. Ditzelfde woord wordt gebruikt om twee door demonen bezeten mannen te beschrijven die in de graven woonden en buitengewoon woest waren (Matte\u00fcs 8:28). Dit doet ons denken aan wat Paulus schreef in 1 Timote\u00fcs 4:1: &quot;De Geest zegt uitdrukkelijk dat in de laatste dagen sommigen van het geloof zullen afvallen en zich zullen overgeven aan misleidende geesten en leerstellingen van demonen.&quot;\u201c<\/p><p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"535\">Hij beschrijft deze laatste dagen vervolgens als een tijd waarin \u201cde mensen ego\u00efstisch zullen zijn, geldzuchtig, opscheppers, trots, godslasteraars, ongehoorzaam aan hun ouders, ondankbaar, onheilig, liefdeloos, onvergevend, lasteraars, zonder zelfbeheersing, wreed, verachters van het goede, verraders, eigenzinnig, hoogmoedig, meer liefhebbers van plezier dan van God, die wel een schijn van godsvrucht hebben, maar de kracht ervan verloochenen\u201d (2 Timote\u00fcs 3:2-4).<\/p><p data-start=\"537\" data-end=\"1037\">Als we naar de wereld om ons heen kijken, is het niet moeilijk te geloven dat we in de laatste dagen leven. De dingen die Paulus beschrijft, zijn een treffende omschrijving van onze cultuur! Als we hieraan denken, kunnen we gemakkelijk overweldigd en verontrust raken. Maar de woorden van de Heer Jezus zouden ons grote troost moeten bieden, zoals Hij verklaarde: &quot;Dit heb Ik u gezegd, opdat u in Mij vrede zult hebben. In de wereld zult u verdrukking hebben, maar wees niet bevreesd, want Ik heb de wereld overwonnen&quot; (Johannes 16:33).<\/p><p data-start=\"1039\" data-end=\"1144\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Als de Grote Overwinnaar wil Hij dat jij en ik overwinnaars zijn en niet overwonnen worden door onze cultuur!<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Het zou gemakkelijk zijn om de chaos en verwarring van onze cultuur onze gedachten en gevoelens te laten beheersen. Ook Timote\u00fcs voelde zich timide en angstig als jonge man die ernaar streefde voor de Heer te leven. Paulus herinnerde hem eraan dat ons als christenen geen &quot;geest van vrees, maar van kracht, van liefde en van een gezond verstand&quot; is gegeven (2 Timote\u00fcs 1:7).<\/p><p data-start=\"1039\" data-end=\"1144\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Het is het zoete deel van de gelovige om, te midden van een chaotische wereld, een hart te hebben dat beheerst wordt door de vrede van Christus.<\/p><p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peace in Perilous Times \u201cBut know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.\u201d\u202d\u202d2 Timothy\u202c \u202d3\u202c:\u202d1\u202c Paul told Timothy that \u201cin the last days perilous times would come\u201d (2 Timothy 3:1).
