Als Ik dan de Vader ben, waar is dan Mijn eer? En als Ik een Meester ben, waar is dan Mijn eerbied? Zo spreekt de Heer der heerscharen tot jullie priesters die Mijn naam verachten. Toch zeggen jullie: \u201cOp welke manier hebben wij Uw naam veracht?\u2018\u2019<\/em><br \/><strong><em>Maleachi 1:6<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"144\" data-end=\"465\">Doordat ze Gods liefde uit het oog verloren, begonnen de mensen Gods grootheid te vergeten en verachtten ze Zijn naam. Maleachi 1:6-2:9 richt zich specifiek tot de priesters, die de mensen hadden moeten leren Gods karakter en Zijn reputatie te eren. In plaats daarvan beschouwden ze deze dingen als van weinig waarde.<\/p><p data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"746\">De naam van de Heer vertegenwoordigt alles wat Hij is: Zijn eigenschappen, Zijn goddelijkheid en Zijn majesteit. Maleachi gebruikte de uitdrukking <em data-start=\"577\" data-end=\"588\">\u201cMijn naam\u201d<\/em> minstens acht keer om de priesters te beschuldigen van nalatigheid. Toen ze vroegen, <em data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"711\">\u201cOp welke manier hebben wij Uw naam veracht?\u201d<\/em> Malachi antwoordde hen op twee manieren.<\/p><p data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"994\">Ten eerste brachten de priesters de Heer wat we \u201cde restjes\u201d zouden kunnen noemen (Maleachi 1:6-14). Ze brachten zieke en kreupele dieren \u2013 offers die ze zelfs niet aan hun gouverneur zouden aanbieden. Hoe durfden ze zulke offers aan de Heer te brengen?<\/p><p data-start=\"996\" data-end=\"1477\">Voordat we hen te hard veroordelen, moeten we eerst ons eigen leven onderzoeken. Zijn er gebieden waar we de Heer onze restjes geven? Behandelen we Zijn naam als iets van weinig waarde? Het is gemakkelijk om Hem de zondag te geven \u2013 en misschien een avond doordeweeks \u2013 maar de Heer verlangt dat we onszelf elke dag van ons leven aanbieden als levende offers, heilig en aanvaardbaar voor Hem (Romeinen 12:1). We kunnen gemakkelijk vergeten dat elk aspect van ons leven in overeenstemming moet zijn met de eer van Zijn naam.<\/p><p data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1761\">Ten tweede namen deze priesters het beste voor zichzelf. Ze waren het voorrecht om Gods vertegenwoordigers te zijn uit het oog verloren en hadden zich van Zijn wet afgewend (Maleachi 2:1-9). Maleachi 2:5-7 beschrijft zes essenti\u00eble kenmerken voor iemand die God getrouw wil vertegenwoordigen.<\/p><p data-start=\"1763\" data-end=\"2448\">Ten eerste moet er een eerbiedige vrees voor de Heer zijn. Wanneer deze verloren gaat, dooft ons licht en neemt onze invloed in een duistere wereld sterk af. Ten tweede moeten we de waarheid kennen en verkondigen. De Schrift spoort ons aan om ons aan God voor te stellen als arbeiders die zich niet hoeven te schamen, die het woord van de waarheid recht uitleggen en het Woord getrouw prediken (2 Timote\u00fcs 2:15; 4:2). Ten derde worden we geroepen om ons af te wenden van de zonde en er afstand van te houden: <em data-start=\"2217\" data-end=\"2245\">\u201c&quot;Vlucht ook voor jeugdige lusten.&quot;\u201d<\/em> (2 Timote\u00fcs 2:22). Ten vierde moeten we dagelijks met God wandelen in Zijn Woord en in gebed. Ten vijfde moeten we anderen naar Christus wijzen, niet naar onszelf. Ten zesde mogen we nooit vergeten dat we boodschappers van de Heer zijn.<\/p><p data-start=\"2450\" data-end=\"2657\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>De priesters in de tijd van Maleachi schoten tekort in deze essenti\u00eble verantwoordelijkheden en onteerden God. Moge de Heer ons helpen te groeien in eerbied voor wie Hij is en voor de genadige roeping waartoe Hij ons heeft gebracht.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Honoring The Lord&#8217;s Name \u201c\u201cA son honors his father, And a servant his master.
