I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.\u201d<\/em><br \/><strong><em>\u202d\u202d1 John\u202c \u202d2\u202c:\u202d14\u202c<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p class=\"p1\">The aged apostle John reminds us of how the victory of Christ is to be seen in the lives of those who follow Him.<\/p><p data-start=\"64\" data-end=\"500\">In 1 John 2:12\u201314, the apostle John speaks of three groups: children, young men, and fathers. The word <em data-start=\"171\" data-end=\"181\">children<\/em> in verse 12 refers to every believer in the family of God whose sins have been forgiven. The <em data-start=\"275\" data-end=\"284\">fathers<\/em> are mature in their walk with the Lord\u2014they have experienced His faithfulness and possess an intimate knowledge of Him. But the <em data-start=\"413\" data-end=\"424\">young men<\/em> are described as overcomers; they have enjoyed victory over the wicked one.<\/p><p data-start=\"502\" data-end=\"984\">But the question must be asked: How did they overcome the wicked one?<\/p><p data-start=\"502\" data-end=\"984\">The answer is: in the same way their Lord and Savior did while He was here\u2014through the Word of God. We are told their secret: <em data-start=\"708\" data-end=\"793\">\u201cThe Word of God abides (is at home) in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.\u201d<\/em> It was not only that they had been in the Word, but that the Word was in them. As the psalmist said, <em data-start=\"895\" data-end=\"968\">\u201cYour word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 119:11).<\/p><p data-start=\"986\" data-end=\"1397\">The perfect example of using the Word of God to overcome the wicked one is our blessed Savior Himself.
