Want de genade van God, die redding brengt, is aan alle mensen verschenen en leert ons dat wij, door goddeloosheid en wereldse begeerten te verloochenen, in deze tijd sober, rechtvaardig en godvruchtig moeten leven, in afwachting van de gezegende hoop en de glorieuze verschijning van onze grote God en Heiland Jezus Christus, die Zichzelf voor ons heeft gegeven, opdat Hij ons zou verlossen van elke wetteloze daad en voor Zichzelf een eigen volk zou uitkiezen, ijverig in goede werken.\u00a0

<\/em><\/p>

Als we deze passage wat dieper bekijken, zien we hoe de genade van God ons leven verandert en onze aandacht op de toekomst richt. Genade leert ons te zijn... \u201cin afwachting van de gezegende hoop en de glorieuze verschijning van onze grote God en Verlosser Jezus Christus.\u201d<\/em> Gisteren hebben we een glimp opgevangen van de gezegende hoop. Vandaag willen we ons richten op wat Paulus noemt... \u201cDe glorieuze verschijning.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

De gezegende hoop is verbonden met de vergadering van de heiligen tot de Heer Jezus. Zijn glorieuze verschijning verwijst echter naar het moment waarop Hij terugkeert. met<\/strong> Zijn heiligen. Dit wordt ons voorgehouden in Openbaring 19:11-16: \u201cEn ik zag de hemel geopend, en zie, een wit paard. En Hij die daarop zat, werd Getrouw en Waarachtig genoemd, en in gerechtigheid oordeelt en voert Hij oorlog. Zijn ogen waren als een vlammend vuur, en op Zijn hoofd waren vele kronen. Op Hem stond een naam geschreven die niemand kende behalve Hijzelf. Hij was gekleed in een gewaad dat in bloed gedoopt was, en Zijn naam is het Woord van God. En de legermachten in de hemel, gekleed in fijn linnen, wit en rein, volgden Hem op witte paarden. Nu komt uit Zijn mond een scherp zwaard, waarmee Hij de volken zal treffen. En Hijzelf zal hen regeren met een ijzeren staf. Hijzelf treedt de wijnpers van de toorn en woede van de Almachtige God. En op Zijn gewaad en op Zijn dij staat geschreven: Koning der koningen en Heer der heren.\u201d<\/p>

Dit is het moment waarop Hij die was \u201cHij was in de wereld, en de wereld was door Hem gemaakt, maar de wereld kende Hem niet. Hij kwam tot de zijnen, maar de zijnen namen Hem niet aan.\u201d<\/em> (Johannes 1:10-11) zal openlijk erkend worden en zal Zijn rechtmatige plaats innemen.<\/p>

Aan het einde van zijn leven kon Paulus zeggen:
\u201cWant ik word reeds als een drankoffer uitgegoten, en de tijd van mijn heengaan is nabij. Ik heb de goede strijd gestreden, ik heb de wedloop volbracht, ik heb het geloof bewaard. Ten slotte ligt voor mij de kroon van gerechtigheid klaar, die de HEER, de rechtvaardige Rechter, mij op die dag zal geven, en niet alleen aan mij, maar ook aan allen die Zijn verschijning hebben liefgehad.\u201d<\/em>(2 Timote\u00fcs 4:6-8).<\/p>

Verlangen wij ernaar dat Hij Zijn rechtmatige plaats in deze wereld krijgt?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
