Dit doel wordt driemaal genoemd in Matte\u00fcs 2 (vv. 2, 8, 11). Ze brachten Hem geschenken die een koning waardig waren, want &quot;ze knielden neer en aanbaden Hem. Daarna openden ze hun schatten en boden Hem geschenken aan: goud, wierook en mirre.&quot; Deze geschenken zijn vol betekenis en laten ons zien hoe ware aanbidding eruitziet.<\/p><p data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"1173\"><strong data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"823\">Goud<\/strong> Goud is een edelmetaal en een symbool van koninklijkheid en goddelijkheid. Het wordt in de hele Schrift genoemd en werd veelvuldig gebruikt in de tabernakel en later in de tempel. Goud werd geassocieerd met koningschap, glorie en rechtvaardigheid. Het goud dat aan de Heer Jezus werd aangeboden, spreekt van Zijn koningschap, Zijn goddelijke natuur en Zijn glorie als God die in het vlees geopenbaard is.<\/p><p data-start=\"1175\" data-end=\"1566\"><strong data-start=\"1175\" data-end=\"1191\">Wierook<\/strong> Wierook was een kostbare geur die werd verkregen door inkepingen in de bast van een boom te maken, waardoor de hars eruit stroomde. Het werd gebruikt bij erediensten en in bepaalde koninklijke processies. Wierook symboliseert heiligheid en rechtvaardigheid, perfect zichtbaar in het leven van de Heer Jezus. Het spreekt ook van Zijn bereidheid om Zichzelf volledig aan God te offeren, als een brandoffer dat geheel aan Hem was toegewijd.<\/p><p data-start=\"1568\" data-end=\"1894\"><strong data-start=\"1568\" data-end=\"1577\">Mirre<\/strong> Mirre was een specerij die vaak met wijn werd vermengd en als verdovingsmiddel werd gebruikt, zoals te lezen is in Marcus 15:23, waar het aan de Heer Jezus aan het kruis werd aangeboden. Het werd ook gebruikt bij de voorbereiding van een lichaam voor de begrafenis, zoals vermeld in Johannes 19:39. Mirre symboliseert bitterheid, lijden en ellende, en wijst vooruit naar het lijden en de dood van Christus.<\/p><p data-start=\"1896\" data-end=\"2160\">Wanneer we de Heer Jezus aanbidden \u2013 zowel in het geheim als in het openbaar \u2013 wat brengen we Hem dan mee? Komen we met gedachten aan Zijn grootheid en glorie, overpeinzingen over Zijn schoonheid en kostbaarheid voor de Vader, of meditaties over Zijn lijden aan het kruis als het Lam van God?<\/p><p data-start=\"2162\" data-end=\"2418\">Wat geven we onze Heer in ons dagelijks leven? Bieden we Hem onze liefde, gehoorzaamheid, lof, aanbidding, vrijgevigheid, tijd, dankbaarheid en vertrouwen?
