Hij en allen die met hem waren, waren verbaasd over de grote hoeveelheid vis die ze gevangen hadden; zo waren ook Jakobus en Johannes, de zonen van Zebede\u00fcs, die partners van Simon waren. Jezus zei tegen Simon: 'Wees niet bang. Van nu af aan zul je mensen vangen.' Toen ze hun boten aan land hadden gebracht, lieten ze alles achter en volgden Hem.

<\/em><\/p>

We wenden ons nog een laatste keer tot Lucas 5:1-11 om \u00e9\u00e9n laatste vraag te stellen. De ontmoeting van Petrus met Christus heeft ons ertoe gebracht ons af te vragen: \u201cHoe reageren we op mislukking?\u201d<\/em> (vv. 1\u20132), \u201cHoe reageren we op autoriteit?\u201d<\/em> (vv. 3\u20135), en \u201cHoe reageren we op succes?\u201d <\/em>Nu we de laatste verzen van deze ontmoeting beschouwen, vragen we ons af:, \u201cHoe reageren we op een leven van geloof?\u201d<\/em><\/p>

Petrus en degenen die bij hem waren, waren ooggetuigen van de grote macht van de Heer Jezus, en dit maakte hen bang. De Heer zei niet alleen:, \u201cWees niet bang.\u201d<\/em> Hij kalmeerde hun angstige harten en gedachten, maar gaf hun ook een nieuwe roeping: \u201cVanaf nu zul je mannen vangen.\u201d<\/em> Het is interessant om op te merken dat het woord voor 'vangen' in de verzen 4 en 9 eerder de betekenis had van vangen om te doden, maar hier de betekenis van vangen om te redden.<\/p>

Angst zou geen plaats hebben in het leven en werk waartoe de Heer hen riep. In het Evangelie van Lucas zien we dit terugkerende thema. \u201cWees niet bang\u201d<\/em> zeven keer (1:13, 30; 2:10; 5:10; 8:50; 12:7, 32). De Heer roept ons op om door geloof te leven, niet door vrees: \u201cZonder geloof is het onmogelijk Hem te behagen, want wie tot God komt, moet geloven dat Hij bestaat en dat Hij een beloner is voor hen die Hem ijverig zoeken.\u201d<\/em> (Hebree\u00ebn 11:6)<\/p>

Hoe ontwikkelen we dit geloof? Op dezelfde manier als Petrus: \u201cOp Uw woord\u201d<\/em> (Lucas 5:5). \u201cGeloof komt door het horen, en het horen door het woord van God.\u201d<\/em> (Romeinen 10:17)<\/p>

Om een leven van geloof te leiden, moeten we de Heer op Zijn Woord geloven. Leven volgens Zijn Woord sterkt ons om getuigen te zijn van Zijn licht in een donkere en stervende wereld. Deze wereld is vol mensen die van dag tot dag in angst leven. Maar: \u201cGod heeft ons geen geest van vrees gegeven, maar een geest van kracht, liefde en een gezond verstand.\u201d<\/em> (2 Timote\u00fcs 1:7)<\/p>

Ook de bejaarde apostel Johannes herinnert ons hieraan: \u201cIn de liefde is geen vrees, maar volmaakte liefde verdrijft de vrees, want vrees brengt kwelling met zich mee. Wie vreest, is echter niet volmaakt in de liefde.\u201d<\/em> (1 Johannes 4:18)<\/p>

Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong>
