Toen stapte Hij in een van de boten, die van Simon was, en vroeg hem een eindje van de kust af te varen. Hij ging zitten en onderwees de menigte vanuit de boot. Toen Hij was uitgesproken, zei Hij tegen Simon: \u201cVaar de diepte op en werp je netten uit om te vissen.\u201d Maar Simon antwoordde: \u201cMeester, we hebben de hele nacht gewerkt en niets gevangen; maar op Uw woord zal ik het net uitwerpen.\u201d

<\/em><\/p>

Terwijl we deze ontmoeting met Christus, zoals beschreven in de eerste elf verzen van Lucas 5, verder onderzoeken, hebben we ons al afgevraagd:, \u201cHoe reageren we op mislukking?\u201d<\/em> (vv. 1-2). Laten we nu de vraag stellen:, \u201cHoe reageren we op autoriteit?\u201d<\/em> (vv. 3\u20135).<\/p>

Deze ervaren vissers hadden de hele nacht gevist en niets gevangen. Ongetwijfeld waren ze uitgeput van de lange nachtelijke arbeid en waarschijnlijk gefrustreerd door het gebrek aan resultaat. Toen kwam de Heer Jezus \u2013 een rondreizende leraar, een timmerman van beroep (Marcus 6:3) \u2013 en Hij veranderde de vissersboot van Petrus in een preekstoel.<\/p>

Bijbelleraar J. Vernon McGee zei ooit:, \u201cElke preekstoel is een vissersboot, een plek om het Woord van God te verkondigen en te proberen vis te vangen.\u201d<\/em> Op dat moment doet de Heer Jezus precies dat: hij gebruikt de boot van Petrus om de menigte te onderwijzen.<\/p>

Maar de volgende instructie was voor Petrus wellicht moeilijk te accepteren. Nadat Hij klaar was met onderwijzen, zei Jezus tegen hem:, \u201c"Vaar de diepte in en laat je netten zakken om een vangst binnen te halen."\u201d<\/em> Peters reactie was begrijpelijk. Hij had waarschijnlijk het grootste deel van zijn leven gevist. Zijn ervaring leerde hem dat het geen zin had om het opnieuw te proberen. Daarom antwoordde hij:, \u201c"Meester, we hebben de hele nacht gewerkt en niets gevangen."\u201d<\/em><\/p>

Maar Peter stopte daar niet. Hoewel het bevel indruiste tegen zijn ervaring, zijn logica en zijn vermoeidheid, voegde hij eraan toe:, \u201cNiettemin zal ik op Uw woord het net uitwerpen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

Hieruit kunnen we een les trekken: zonder de Heer Jezus kunnen we de hele nacht zwoegen en toch met lege netten thuiskomen (zie Johannes 15:5).<\/p>

Maar toen Petrus gehoorzaamde, waren de gevolgen overweldigend. De netten raakten zo vol dat ze begonnen te scheuren, en de boten begonnen te zinken onder het gewicht (vv. 6-7).<\/p>

Ankerpunt voor vandaag:
<\/strong>Luisteren naar het Woord van de Meester leert ons Zijn wegen kennen.
