De netten schoon houden<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Terwijl de menigte zich om Hem heen verdrong om het woord van God te horen, stond Hij bij het meer van Gennesaret en zag twee boten aan de oever liggen; maar de vissers waren eruit gegaan en waren hun netten aan het wassen.

<\/em><\/p>

Er zijn veel lessen te leren uit het leven van Petrus. Een van die lessen vinden we aan het begin van zijn ontmoetingen met de Heer Jezus. Als we de eerste elf verzen van Lucas hoofdstuk 5 bekijken, kunnen we ons een aantal vragen stellen: Hoe reageren we op falen (vv. 1-2)? Hoe reageren we op gezag (vv. 3-5)? Hoe reageren we op succes (vv. 6-8)? En ten slotte, hoe reageren we op een leven van geloof (vv. 9-11)?<\/p>

Laten we vandaag eens kijken hoe we reageren op mislukking<\/strong>. Voor velen voelt falen ondraaglijk. Sommigen zien falen als het einde van de weg. Maar voor degene die alles aan Christus overgeeft \u2013 zelfs falen \u2013 hoeft falen niet het einde te betekenen. President Theodore Roosevelt zei ooit: "De enige man die nooit een fout maakt, is de man die nooit iets doet."\u201c<\/p>

Deze ervaren vissers keerden na een nacht hard werken terug met lege netten. Simon (Petrus) zou later getuigen: "We hebben de hele nacht gezwoegd en niets gevangen" (vers 5). Het is gemakkelijk voor ons, die vissen als sport of hobby beschouwen, om te vergeten dat dit hun levensonderhoud was. Lege netten betekenden geen inkomen \u2013 geen voorziening in hun dagelijkse behoeften.<\/p>

Maar wat waren ze aan het doen? Ze waren hun netten aan het wassen. Ze maakten zich klaar om weer uit te varen. Het schoonmaken van de netten was niet iets wat mannen deden die de moed hadden opgegeven. Het was juist iets wat mensen deden die begrepen hoe belangrijk schone netten waren. Als de netten niet goed werden onderhouden, konden kleine onkruidjes en ander vuil erin opdrogen en konden kleine beestjes zich in de vezels boren. Zulke dingen zouden de netten verzwakken en laten rotten, waardoor toekomstig succes in het gedrang zou komen.<\/p>

Net zoals het voor deze vissers belangrijk was om niet op te geven, maar hun netten te wassen, is het voor ons belangrijk om ons niet door tegenslagen, mislukkingen of obstakels \u2013 groot of klein \u2013 te laten ontmoedigen. We moeten onze zonden in ons leven nauwkeurig bijhouden en ze voor de Heer belijden (1 Johannes 1:9). We moeten waakzaam zijn, \u201copdat niemand de genade van God misloopt\u201d (Hebree\u00ebn 12:15).<\/p>

Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong>
