Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, \u201cThey have no wine.\u201d Jesus said to her, \u201cWoman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.\u201d His mother said to the servants, \u201cWhatever He says to you, do it.\u201d<br \/><strong data-start=\"126\" data-end=\"140\">John 2:1\u20135<\/strong><br \/><\/em><\/p><p data-start=\"126\" data-end=\"547\">The encounter with the Lord Jesus that we will look today at also involves the Lord Jesus and His mother. The setting is a wedding in Cana, where both of them were present. During the celebration, the host ran out of wine. This is the moment when the Guest\u2014 the Lord Jesus\u2014became the true Host. In verses 1\u20132, we see Him as the Guest; in verses 3\u20135, as the Son; and in verses 6\u201312, as the Host.<\/p><p data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"1509\">Imagine the embarrassment of the wedding host running out of wine. Mary had pondered many things in her heart concerning her Son, and she knew that He would be able to solve this problem. Coming to Him, she presents the situation, and His response might seem strange to us: \u201cWoman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.\u201d The Lord Jesus refers to \u201cMy hour,\u201d a phrase mentioned at least ten times in John\u2019s Gospel\u2014five times as \u201cit has not yet come,\u201d and five times as \u201cthe hour has come.\u201d<\/p><p data-start=\"1511\" data-end=\"1716\">His reply did not offend Mary; she understood what He meant. He was reminding her that He operated on a divine timetable. The One who controlled that timetable was His Father\u2014not the circumstances of life.<\/p><p data-start=\"1718\" data-end=\"2069\">Mary, full of faith, said to the servants, \u201cWhatever He says to you, do it.\u201d The Lord then instructed the servants to fill six waterpots with water, which they obediently did. As they continued to follow His instructions and drew from the waterpots, they found that the water had turned into wine\u2014 not just any wine, but the very best wine (vv. 9\u201310)!<\/p><p data-start=\"2071\" data-end=\"2457\">The Lord did not tell Mary or the servants what He was going to do, or even how He was going to do it. In the same way, He does not reveal His entire plan for our lives all at once.
