Want wat onder de mensen hoog wordt geacht, is een gruwel in de ogen van God.\u2019<\/em><br data-start=\"302\" data-end=\"305\" \/><strong data-start=\"305\" data-end=\"319\">Lucas 16:15<\/strong><\/p><p data-start=\"348\" data-end=\"748\">Ons vers verschijnt in de context van een zeer interessant verhaal dat de Heer Jezus aan Zijn discipelen vertelde. Het verhaal draait om een slimme zakenman die door de eigenaar van een bedrijf tot manager werd aangesteld. In deze branche werden transacties gedaan door goederen te ruilen in plaats van met geld te betalen. Toen de eigenaar erachter kwam dat zijn manager zijn goederen verkwistte, besloot hij hem te ontslaan (Lucas 16:1-2).<\/p><p data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"1135\">De manager wilde niet op straat bedelen, dus bedacht hij een plan om hulp te krijgen van zijn zakenpartners. Hij verlaagde de bedragen die deze mannen verschuldigd waren, zodat ze hun schulden snel konden aflossen. Daardoor zouden ze zich verplicht voelen om hem te helpen zodra hij zijn baan kwijt was. Verrassend genoeg waardeerde de eigenaar de slimheid van de manager (Lucas 16:3-8).<\/p><p data-start=\"1137\" data-end=\"1616\">De les is duidelijk: we moeten allemaal verantwoording afleggen over hoe we onze bezittingen en ons geld besteden. We zijn geen eigenaars, maar beheerders \u2013 rentmeesters. <em data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1325\">\u201cVan rentmeesters wordt vereist dat zij betrouwbaar bevonden worden.\u201d<\/em> (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 4:2). We moeten wijs omgaan met wat God ons heeft toevertrouwd. God zal ons belonen naar onze trouw met wat Hij in onze handen heeft gelegd (Lucas 16:10-12). Als we niet trouw zijn met wat ons is gegeven, raken we uiteindelijk in de greep van ons geld en zijn we ontrouw aan onze God (Lucas 16:13).<\/p><p data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"2028\">De Farizee\u00ebn, die luisterden, geloofden dat rijkdom een beloning was voor het naleven van de wet. Ze bespotten de Heer Jezus om wat Hij leerde en haalden hun neus op voor Zijn woorden. Omdat ze zo geobsedeerd waren door het tonen van hun eigen rechtvaardigheid, zei de Heer tegen hen:, <em data-start=\"1876\" data-end=\"2028\">\u201cJullie zijn degenen die zichzelf rechtvaardigen voor de mensen, maar God kent jullie harten. Want wat door de mensen hoog wordt geacht, is een gruwel in de ogen van God.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2411\">God kent onze harten! Hij kent elke motivatie achter onze daden. Paulus geeft ons de volgende instructie:, <em data-start=\"2112\" data-end=\"2188\">\u201cOf je nu eet of drinkt, of wat je ook doet, doe alles tot eer van God.\u201d<\/em> (1 Korinti\u00ebrs 10:31). Hij herinnert ons er nogmaals aan, <em data-start=\"2226\" data-end=\"2398\">\u201cWat u ook doet, doe het van harte, alsof u het voor de Heer doet en niet voor mensen. U weet immers dat u van de Heer de beloning van de erfenis zult ontvangen, want u dient de Heer Christus.\u201d<\/em> (Kol. 3:23).<br \/><br \/><strong>Ankerpunt voor vandaag:<\/strong><br \/>Wij dienen de Heer, die het hart doorgrondt en kent.
