David bleef in zijn schuilplaatsen in de woestijn, in de bergen van de woestijn bij Zif. Saul zocht hem elke dag, maar God leverde hem niet uit in zijn handen.\u201d<\/em>
1 Samuel 23:14<\/strong><\/p>

De relatie tussen Saul en David was op zijn zachtst gezegd turbulent. Saul werd jaloers en leefde in voortdurende angst en onzekerheid. David leed onder Sauls jaloezie. Er zijn minstens negen psalmen die in deze periode zijn geschreven, waarin we Davids hart horen uitstorten voor zijn God. Psalm 59:1 vertoont parallellen met 1 Samuel 19; Psalmen 56 en 34 met 1 Samuel 21:10-15; Psalm 142 met 1 Samuel 22:1-3; Psalm 63 met 1 Samuel 22:5; Psalm 52 met 1 Samuel 22:9-19; Psalm 54 met 1 Samuel 23:19-29; Psalm 57 met 1 Samuel 24:1-22; en Psalm 7 met 1 Samuel 24:9-12.<\/p>

Saul is een treffend voorbeeld van hoe een mens in het vlees eruitziet: zelfzuchtig en egocentrisch. David daarentegen was een man naar Gods hart. We lezen in Handelingen 13:22 dat God Saul wegstuurde en \u201cHij verwekte David tot koning voor hen, van wie Hij ook getuigde en zei: \u2018Ik heb David, de zoon van Jesse, gevonden, een man naar Mijn hart, die al Mijn wil zal doen.\u2019\u201d<\/em> Terwijl Saul David onophoudelijk achtervolgde, staat er in ons vers:, \u201cMaar God heeft hem niet in zijn hand uitgeleverd.\u201d<\/em>God zou niet toestaan dat Saul Zijn plannen voor David zou dwarsbomen.<\/p>

Saul voerde de druk op David herhaaldelijk op, maar God hield David in de gaten en beheerste de situatie! De Heer liet David door vurige beproevingen gaan, die hem uiteindelijk vormden tot de man Gods die hij werd. Petrus vertelt ons:, \u201c"Hierin verheugt u zich zeer, hoewel u nu, indien nodig, voor korte tijd bedroefd bent geweest door allerlei beproevingen, opdat de echtheid van uw geloof, dat veel kostbaarder is dan vergankelijk goud, hoewel het door vuur beproefd wordt, tot lof, eer en glorie mag blijken bij de openbaring van Jezus Christus."\u201d<\/em> (1 Petrus 1:6-7). Jakobus instrueert ons om \u201cBeschouw het als een grote vreugde wanneer u in allerlei beproevingen terechtkomt, wetende dat de beproeving van uw geloof geduld voortbrengt. Laat het geduld zijn volle werk doen, opdat u volmaakt en compleet bent, zonder iets tekort te komen. Als iemand van u wijsheid ontbreekt, laat hij die dan vragen aan God, die aan allen overvloedig en zonder verwijt geeft, en zij zal hem gegeven worden.\u201d<\/em> (Jakobus 1:2-5).<\/p>

Vergeet niet dat onze God altijd over ons waakt en de controle over ons leven heeft.
